description: Use when you need short talking openings (6 or 8 seconds) to put in front of an ad you already run. A made-up adult presenter says one line to a phone with the real product in frame from the first frame. Writes three openings that each make a different move, sizes every line to the clip, then runs the video process for them (presenter card, sheets, a storyboard frame per opening, clip prompts), reusing the ad's approved presenter where there is one. Ends with any of its own checks the set still misses.

# Spoken video ad opening writer

You write three spoken openings for an existing ad, then take them through the video process with an AI-made presenter. An opening has one job: keep the right person watching long enough for the ad's first line. Three openings that differ a lot teach you more than ten that differ a little. Stop for approval after stages 1, 3 and 4. If the person asked for every stage in one go, or gave approvals ahead, run them all and mark each checkpoint "(approve)".

## Before you start
This skill runs on its own. What's below makes the result better, but none of it is required.

**Works best with** (or they can paste their own instead):
- **Brand brain** (its products and buyers part), made by the [Website brand brain builder](https://useaiblocks.com/skills/website-brand-brain-builder): your facts, products, buyers, claims and voice, in one folder of eight files.
- **Your video ads** (yours): the video ads, attached or linked.

**Recommended steps before this one** (optional; do each once, then reuse what it makes):
1. **Brand brain** with the [Website brand brain builder](https://useaiblocks.com/skills/website-brand-brain-builder). Bring your website, customer words (optional), your results (optional).
2. This one.

**From the brand brain, read:** `00-start-here.md`, `voice-and-look.md`, `offers.md`, `proof-and-claims.md`. Take how the product looks, the colours, fonts and photo style, and the exact words allowed on the picture. Leave out review quotes and research notes. Source notes and rejected ideas never go into the result.

How to start:
1. **Look first.** Use what they've already attached, pasted or put in their about-me note. In Claude Code, look in the project too: a brand brain is a folder with `00-start-here.md` in it (often `brand-brain/`). If it's there, read that file and the files above. Look for the other things by name.
2. **If something is missing, advise, don't block.** In one short message, say this skill works on its own and will be better with your brand brain, your video ads. They can attach them, paste them, or say where they are (in Claude Code, a file path). Name the recommended steps above as a suggestion, with their links. Then ask: "Add them, or shall I go ahead with what you've given me?" If their message already says to go ahead, skip this and start.
3. **When they say go ahead,** do the whole job with what you have. Mark each gap with `MISSING:` where it belongs and never invent a fact to fill it. Keep the answer tight: say each point once, merge steps that give the same thing, and aim for under 700 words unless the job truly needs more. In CHECKS MISSED, name only the checks that failed, or write “none”.

**Tools that do this best:**
- **Veo:** Makes speech and lip movement along with the picture, starting from your approved frame.
- **Kling:** Makes speech with lip sync in several languages, from your reference images.
- **Nano Banana:** Makes the opening frame from your product photos, so the real product is in frame from the first second.

## What you need
- **The ad it goes in front of** (required): its first spoken line, a screenshot of its first frame and the full script if you have it. Read who, where, the light and what's in hand straight from the screenshot. Ask for the screenshot rather than a description; if only a description comes, say the join to the ad couldn't be checked by eye.
- **The product** (required): photos by what they show (front, in hand, in use), read directly, how it's handled, what it replaces, any visible result.
- **Buyer and brand file** (required): the buyer's moment and own words, their main doubt, the brand voice, claims with sources, words never to say, a real deadline only if one exists.
- **Approved presenter** (optional): the ad's avatar card, sheet and lock lines, so the opening and the ad match.
- **Clip length** (optional): 6 seconds by default, 8 if your tool allows it.

## Making the video

You write the prompts. You can't make pictures or video unless this chat has a video tool connected. Say that once, in one line, before you start, so nobody waits for a clip that won't come. At the end, tell them how to finish it:
- **Each clip starts from a picture.** Make the first frame from its image prompt in ChatGPT (GPT Image), Gemini (Nano Banana) or Higgsfield, then animate that picture with the clip prompt.
- **Higgsfield:** paste each clip prompt into its video tool and pick Seedance, Kling or Veo, or connect Higgsfield to Claude so Claude makes the clips there. It runs on paid credits.
- **Gemini:** paid Google AI plans include Veo video in the Gemini app, with a few clips a day.
- **Claude Code:** with a key from a video service that offers Seedance, Kling or Veo, offer to send each clip prompt to it and save the files. Pictures alone need an OpenAI or Google key. Keys: platform.openai.com/api-keys (OpenAI) or aistudio.google.com/apikey (Google). OpenAI or Google bills each picture.

If a video tool is connected, offer to make the clips with it, and ask before you spend credits.

## Steps

### Stage 0: Script in (the openings)
1. **Choose three moves:** mirror, gap, promise, proof, flip (the five moves from the openings skill). A visible result allows a promise preview. A sourced number allows proof, unless the ad already says it. A doubt the ad answers allows a gap. Name the ad line that pays each opening off. Skip any move the facts don't support, and say why.
2. **Gate the speaker.** The presenter is a made-up adult who speaks in "you" or as an observer, never "I tried it" or a personal result. A real founder, customer or expert appears only on their own footage. No children.
3. **Size the line to the clip.** About 2.5 words a second, with half a second to settle at the start and one second of stillness at the end: 11 words for 6 seconds, 16 for 8. If a line won't fit, shorten it.
4. **Set two dials for each:** energy (calm, level or lively) and distance (close at arm's length, or propped at mid shot). One opening matches the ad's first frame on both dials, so the cut feels like one video; the other two change at least one dial.
5. **Read each one aloud, then the ad's first line.** It should flow as one video. No greeting, no "so", no brand name in the first three words.
6. **Show the line-up for a yes:** move, line, word count, dials, where the product sits, the touch, and the ad line that pays it off. This yes locks the words.

### Stage 1: Pick the avatar (approval 1)
Reuse the ad's approved presenter so the join doesn't jump: copy its avatar card unchanged. With none, write a new **avatar card** for a made-up adult who fits the buyer (age, look, plain clothes, voice, what never changes). Never an AI look-alike of a real creator or any real person.

**Approval 1 of 3:** stop and show the avatar card (or confirm the reused one).

### Stage 2: Avatar to image
A reused presenter's picked picture is the pick. A new one gets 3 or 4 reference prompts in the ad's phone look; the person picks one.

### Stage 3: Character sheet (approval 2)
Reuse the ad's sheet and add the expressions the dials need (calm, level, lively) and the product in hand. A new presenter gets the full sheet: front, three-quarters, side, back, face and hands. Add the **product sheet** from the labelled photos (front, label word for word, how it's held) and the **room** from the ad's first frame (place, light, objects). Write the **lock lines**: presenter, room, product.

**Approval 2 of 3:** stop and show the sheet and lock lines.

### Stage 4: Storyboard (approval 3)
One opening frame and one shot card per opening:
- **Frame:** the lock lines, one person, the room's own light, the product already in a hand or on the surface with its label to the lens, mouth just opening. Nothing important in the top or bottom sixth. Openings that share a room share this frame.
- **Shot card:** distance and energy, the line word for word, the touch (a tap, a turn of the label or a nudge forward) on the word that names the product, the still last second, the voice, room sound.
- **Continuity:** the last frame must sit next to the ad's first frame without a jump in place, light or what's in hand.

**Approval 3 of 3:** stop and show the three frames and shot cards.

### Stage 5: Storyboard to video
1. **Clip prompt, one per opening,** starting on its approved frame: 9:16, length, real speed, references and what each is for, the room's only objects, camera (held or propped), the line word for word, the touch, the final still second, the voice (age, pace, accent), room sound. No music in the clip; any music goes in the edit across the whole ad. Use phone-video words; leave out film words (cinematic, bokeh, anamorphic, dramatic lighting, slow motion, camera brands).
2. **Make one clip and check it before the rest:** every word said, lips in sync, the product matches its photo, the last second is still, and the last frame sits next to the ad's first frame without a jump. Make two or three takes and pick one.
3. **Voice:** keep the ad's voice. If the tool's voice drifts from it, record the line and lip-sync.
4. **Edit:** each opening joined to the same ad with a hard cut, captions in the ad's style, the AI label on. Deliver the raw clip, its last frame, the line and the move, and test each as a separate ad.
5. **Run the checks.** Run the checks in "Check before you hand it back" and fix any that fail. Show `CHECKS MISSED: <one line each>`, or "none".

## What you hand back
1. **Line-up** (move, line, words, dials, product, touch, paid off by), plus moves not used and why.
2. **Avatar card** (reused or new) and **reference image prompts** if new.
3. **Sheet prompts** and lock lines.
4. **Storyboard:** a frame prompt and a shot card per opening.
5. **Clip prompts**, one per opening.
6. **Edit list:** the joins, captions, AI label and what to deliver.
7. **CHECKS MISSED:** one line for each check still missed, or "none".

## After this
When you've handed it back, suggest what they could do next in one short question. It's a suggestion: if they're done, that's fine. Offer these, and say they can type their own:
- **Check it before it goes live** with the [Meta ads compliance checker](https://useaiblocks.com/skills/meta-ads-compliance-checker). It takes the ad copy.
- **Make video ads** with the [On-screen text planner for video ads](https://useaiblocks.com/skills/video-ad-text-overlays). It takes the video ads.
- **Make image ads** with the [Article headline image ad maker](https://useaiblocks.com/skills/article-headline-image-ad-maker). It takes the ad copy.
- **Write the ad copy** with the [Ad first line writer and scorer](https://useaiblocks.com/skills/ad-first-line-writer-and-scorer). It takes the ad copy.
- **Write the landing page** with the [Ad-matched landing page writer](https://useaiblocks.com/skills/ad-matched-landing-page-writer). It takes the ad copy.
If they pick one and that skill is added here, carry straight on with what you just made. If not, give the link and say what to bring.
<!-- /next -->

## Check before you hand it back
- Each approval came before the next stage, or was marked "(approve)" when every stage was asked for in one go.
- Three different moves, each paid off by a named line in the ad, each within its word budget.
- No personal result or story from the presenter; every fact is the brand's, word for word.
- One opening matches the ad's first frame on both dials.
- The product is in frame from the first frame.

## If something is missing
Write `MISSING: <what>`, ask once for what you can't work without, then carry on. No product photo: write the three openings, cards and storyboard with the product slot marked `MISSING: product photo`, and make no product sheet or clip until a real photo arrives. No visible result: no promise preview. No sourced quote: no real-line proof. No real date: no timing.

## Avoid
- An AI look-alike of a real creator or any real person.
- A word that runs across the cut into the ad.
- Hiding the product until late in the clip.
