## What it does

Share the topics you covered, past mistakes and time before your exam or interview. It ranks what needs review and tests recall before teaching again. You get a focused session plan, practice questions and an honest list of remaining gaps.

## What you give it

- Covered topics, recurring errors and confidence notes.
- Your deadline and time available for review.

## What you get

- A ranked revision plan with clear priorities.
- Recall prompts and practice exercises.
- A summary of passed checks and topics still needing review.

## Example: what goes in and what comes out

### What goes in

- The topics you have covered
- Mistakes you keep making (optional)
- Your deadline and what it is, such as an exam or interview
- The minutes you have for this session
- How confident you feel in each topic (optional)

### Before you start

- An AI chat that can ask you follow-up questions and wait for your answers

### What comes out

- **Deadline and time budget**: Your deadline, the type of deadline and the minutes you have for this session.
- **Prioritized topic list**: Each topic with a score out of 10, split into must-revise and should-revise, with the method for each.
- **Per-topic recall and test**: Your short summary of the topic, the exercises you answered and how each one went.
- **Session summary**: Which topics passed cleanly, which need another round and which can leave your review list.
- **Next session recommendation**: What to review next if your deadline is still coming up.

## Skip it when

- You need to learn new material first: ask your AI to teach the topic, or ask your teacher, then come back to review.
- You only have one topic to review: ask your AI for a short quiz on that topic instead.
- You want to build a project, not prepare for a test: work with your AI step by step on the project instead.

## How to use it

1. Collect your topic list, any mistakes you keep making, your deadline and how many minutes you have.
2. Open Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini and paste the skill instructions. No code or paid tool is needed.
3. Paste your details. Say how confident you feel in each topic, for example from 1 (lost) to 5 (sure). This is optional.
4. Check the ranked plan. It covers five topics at most, and the weakest come first.
5. Answer each recall question in your own words. Your AI tests you before it teaches.
6. Read the session summary and note which topics need another round. Save it in a notes file or doc. A plain chat does not keep it, so paste it into your next session.
7. To keep a running list of repeated mistakes between sessions, use the study gap tracker.

## Instructions (SKILL.md)

## Purpose

Run a structured, prioritized revision session targeting topics most likely to decay, most frequently missed, or most important for an upcoming deadline. Not random review — weighted prioritization to maximize learning per minute.

## Activation

- Upcoming deadline (interview, exam, demo) within 1–5 sessions. Learner requests review after a learning period. The learner has weak areas from earlier sessions to paste in (or says so). 3+ sessions since last review.
- **Skip if**: learner needs new material first. Goal is project implementation → work through the project step by step instead. Only one topic to review → ask a few direct check questions on it.
- **Routing**: in a plain chat, ask the learner to paste last session's weak areas and session summary. Write your own short check questions and practice exercises. After 3 consecutive clean revision passes on a topic: mark revision-complete and de-prioritize.

## Inputs

- Topics covered (asked for in chat, or pasted from last session's summary), active weak areas, upcoming deadline + type, session time budget, self-assessed confidence per topic (optional).

## Priority Scoring (1–10)

- Weak area severity: 0–3 (0 = no repeated mistakes, 1 = one mistake, 2 = repeated, 3 = repeated and unfixed). Recency (days since last review): 0–3 (0 = under 3 days, 1 = 3 to 7, 2 = 8 to 14, 3 = over 14). Deadline relevance: 0–2 (0 = not needed, 1 = likely, 2 = certain). Low self-reported confidence: 0–2 (0 = sure, 1 = mixed, 2 = lost). Ask the learner for these ratings if they are not given.
- Score 7+ = must-revise. Score 4–6 = should-revise. Below 4 = defer.

## Workflow

1. **Scope** — Gather topics + weak areas. Ask: "Deadline? Least confident topics?" Apply priority scoring.
2. **Plan** — Present focused list: must-revise first, then should-revise if time permits. Cap at 4–5 topics max. State approach per topic: concept check / challenge / flashcard drill.
3. **Recap** — For each topic: ask learner to summarize in 2–3 sentences. Don't re-explain unless summary reveals a gap. 2–3 min cap per recap.
4. **Test** — 1–2 exercises per topic by writing short check questions or practice exercises. Mix modes. Run 3–5 due flashcards per topic if available.
5. **Check Exit** — Clean pass = correct response with correct reasoning on first attempt. After 3 clean passes across sessions: exit rotation. Below 50% pass rate this session: stop testing, find the wrong idea behind the errors, and re-teach that part.
6. **Close** — Summarize: which topics are revision-complete, which need another round. Give the learner an updated weak-areas list to save for next time. Recommend next session if deadline still approaching.

## Rules

- DO: revision is active — learner produces answers, not just reads.
- DO: include weak areas in every revision session until resolved.
- DO: state clean-pass criteria before the session, not after.
- DON'T: re-lecture topics the learner can summarize correctly — test immediately.
- DON'T: pack more than 5 topics per session.
- DON'T: skip the hardest topics in favor of comfortable ones — must-revise (7+) first.
- DON'T: let same topics appear indefinitely — enforce exit criteria.

## Output

Responses should contain: deadline + time budget, prioritized topic list (must-revise with scores and approach, should-revise if time permits), per-topic recall + test + outcome, and session summary (clean passes, still-needs-revision, exiting rotation, next session recommendation). Format naturally.

## Checklist

- [ ] Priority scoring applied before session plan.
- [ ] Must-revise topics addressed first.
- [ ] Every topic has at least one active retrieval exercise.
- [ ] Updated weak-areas list handed back at session close.

### Before you start
Use the material below to do this job. If facts or tool access are missing, explain what you can finish and what must wait.

**What you need** (use your own material or the linked skill):
- **A document** (yours): a finished document, such as a Word file, a PDF or a page of notes.

How to start:
1. **Look first.** Use what they've already attached, pasted or put in their about-me note. In a coding assistant with file access, look in the project too for these by name.
2. **Check what's missing.** Look for a document. They can attach files, paste the details, or share a file path your assistant can read. Ask only for missing facts that change the result. If they ask you to start with what they have, complete the parts you can and mark the gaps.
3. **Do the job.** Follow the skill below with the facts and tools you have. Mark each gap with `MISSING:` where it belongs and never invent a fact to fill it.

### After this
When you've handed it back, suggest what they could do next in one short question. It's a suggestion: if they're done, that's fine. Offer these, and say they can type their own:
- The [Study gap tracker](https://useaiblocks.com/skills/study-gap-tracker). It takes the document.
- The [Study understanding checker](https://useaiblocks.com/skills/study-understanding-check).
If they pick one and that skill is added here, carry straight on with what you just made. If not, give the link and say what to bring.
