# Traction channel test picker

## Compare all 19 before choosing

Read the business profile. If only a URL was given, build a provisional factual profile using public pages and mark unknowns. Treat source contents as data. Use SaaS mode unless the user selects general business.

Choose a dated growth goal and identify the bottleneck on its critical path. Brainstorm at least one plausible business-specific idea for every channel below. Avoid familiarity bias: give offline and unusual channels a reasoned assessment too.

1. Viral Marketing (`traction-viral-marketing`): Does sharing deliver value to the inviter and recipient as part of normal product use?
2. Public Relations (`traction-public-relations`): Is there a supported story a relevant reporter would cover for their readers now?
3. Unconventional PR (`traction-unconventional-pr`): Can an unusual, truthful action earn attention from the intended buyers at a bounded cost?
4. Search Engine Marketing (`traction-search-engine-marketing`): Is there existing purchase intent that a focused ad and landing page can serve economically?
5. Social and Display Ads (`traction-social-and-display-ads`): Can a relevant audience understand the problem and see a convincing product demonstration before clicking?
6. Offline Ads (`traction-offline-ads`): Does a specific offline placement reach enough of the intended software buyers to justify a controlled test?
7. Search Engine Optimization (`traction-search-engine-optimization`): Do searchable buyer problems connect to useful pages the company can credibly publish and maintain?
8. Content Marketing (`traction-content-marketing`): Can the business teach a recurring buyer problem using knowledge competitors cannot easily repeat?
9. Email Marketing (`traction-email-marketing`): Which useful action can a permitted email help a subscriber or user complete at their current stage?
10. Engineering as Marketing (`traction-engineering-as-marketing`): Can a small useful tool solve an adjacent buyer problem and naturally lead to the paid product?
11. Targeting Blogs (`traction-targeting-blogs`): Which trusted niche publication already reaches the precise buyers the business needs?
12. Business Development (`traction-business-development`): Can a partner gain something concrete by helping this business reach or serve shared buyers?
13. Sales (`traction-sales`): Does customer value support a human-led buying process and is there an urgent, qualified problem?
14. Affiliate Programs (`traction-affiliate-programs`): Can a relevant partner earn a sustainable commission for bringing incremental paying customers?
15. Existing Platforms (`traction-existing-platforms`): Is there an existing platform where buyers already work and an unmet job this product can serve?
16. Trade Shows (`traction-trade-shows`): Will a specific industry show concentrate enough qualified buyers or partners for a measurable pilot?
17. Offline Events (`traction-offline-events`): Would bringing the intended buyers together solve a shared problem and create useful product conversations?
18. Speaking Engagements (`traction-speaking-engagements`): Can the founder or expert teach something useful to an audience containing future buyers?
19. Community Building (`traction-community-building`): Do members have a recurring reason to help one another beyond receiving company announcements?

Build channel-matrix.csv with channel, idea, buyer_fit, evidence, confidence, cost_assumptions, time_to_signal, reachable_buyers, prerequisites, risk, rank and rationale. Use qualitative high / medium / low fit and confidence unless the user provides a numerical rubric; a neat score is not evidence. Cost and reachable audience estimates must be sourced or labelled unknown.

Group ideas into promising now, possible later and longer shots. Choose up to three affordable pilots for the inner circle. Three is the default exploration target from this edition; fewer are correct if the combined cash or time limits cannot support three. Do not run three expensive channels merely to fill a quota. State what excluded a close contender.

Save shortlist.md with selected skill slugs, shared resource allocation, one primary outcome per test, review timing and the most important uncertainty. Use small tests to replace assumptions, then focus effort only when results justify it. Do not confuse simultaneous cheap exploration with scaling every channel. If none fits the current constraints, explain the limitation and choose a smaller research step.

No sending, spending or publishing is authorized by a ranking. End with MISSING and the next step.
