What it does
An agent told to "look into our competitors" has no way to know when it is finished, so it either stops early or runs on. A good goal names the finished thing and how to check it. This prompt writes the goal in a fixed layout: outcome, proof of done, scope, approval points, stop rules and a first step. It writes the goal only. It does not do the job.
You give it
- The job in your own words
- Limits, if any (optional)
- Files or tools it can use (optional)
You get
- A one-sentence goal
- Proof of done as yes-or-no checks
- Scope, approval points and stop rules
- A first step
Use it when
- You are about to hand a many-step job to an AI agent.
- An agent keeps stopping early or wandering off.
- You want to check that work is done without reading all of it.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt (the card on this page) and paste it into any AI chat, or open it if you added it to your AI.
- Paste your details under it, in the slots under What you need.
- Send it and read the answer against the checks on this page.
