Hire an AI management award and investor cash return checker

Share what the sole sponsor paid, the vested management terms, net sale proceeds and annual payment records. You get two linked reviews.

What you give

  • The sponsor's entry cash and date (from the closing statement)
  • The management award terms: vested part, hurdle and share (from the plan documents)

What you get

  • The sponsor's exit receipt after the award
  • The sponsor's yearly return and cash multiple
  • A note on whether the cash dates fit a yearly calculation
  • A list of missing facts and checks that could not run

An example

A sponsor is planning an exit and management asks what their award is worth.

You ask: “Share what the sole sponsor paid, the vested management terms, net sale proceeds and annual payment records. Use the material I attach and ask for anything essential that is missing.”

You get back:

  • outputs/step-1-management-equity-hurdle-checker.md. The vested award from net equity proceeds, and what is left for the sponsor.
  • outputs/step-2-dividend-recap-timing-checker.md. The sponsor's yearly return and cash multiple, with a check that dates are a year apart.
  • HAND-BACK SUMMARY. Files saved, sources used, assumptions, MISSING lines, checks missed and one suggested next step.

An example, not your task.

Details

Everything it can hand back

Your task sets the actual outputs. The specialist picks the methods that cover them.

  • The vested management award from net equity proceeds
  • The sponsor's exit receipt after the award
  • The sponsor's yearly return and cash multiple
  • A note on whether the cash dates fit a yearly calculation
  • A list of missing facts and checks that could not run

How it does the job well

  • Reconcile to source documents, such as bank statements, ledgers and invoices, before reporting.
  • Show the calculation, inputs and period for every figure.
  • Label actuals, estimates and forecasts clearly.
  • Send tax, legal and regulatory questions to a qualified professional.

Mistakes it avoids

  • Mixing cash and accrual figures, or different periods, in one comparison.
  • Rounding or formula errors that do not tie back to totals.
  • Giving personal investment advice.

What a good result looks like

An example, not your task: A sponsor is planning an exit and management asks what their award is worth.

  • outputs/step-1-management-equity-hurdle-checker.md. The vested award from net equity proceeds, and what is left for the sponsor.
  • outputs/step-2-dividend-recap-timing-checker.md. The sponsor's yearly return and cash multiple, with a check that dates are a year apart.
  • HAND-BACK SUMMARY. Files saved, sources used, assumptions, MISSING lines, checks missed and one suggested next step.

How the work is checked

  • Use this only for one sponsor plus a simple management award. Other rollover holders or preferences need a full ownership allocation first.
  • The award base is net equity proceeds after debt, and the award plus the sponsor's exit receipt equals those proceeds.
  • The yearly return discounts the three cash flows to zero, and the cash multiple equals total cash back over entry cash.
  • The dates are exactly one and two years after entry. If not, no yearly return is quoted.
  • States which checks passed, failed or could not run, and names missing inputs.

These checks have not been run against a model yet. Your AI uses them to check its own work.

Capabilities

  • Management equity hurdle checker. Works out only the vested, fixed-hurdle award from net equity proceeds. With one sponsor and management, the sponsor's exit receipt is what is left. Hands step 2 that receipt.
  • Dividend recap timing checker. Uses the sponsor's exit receipt, its entry cash and the net distribution at year one. Confirms the dates are exactly a year apart. Gives the yearly return and the cash multiple. Irregular dates need a separate date-based IRR.

How the role works

  1. Checks your task, context and available tools.
  2. Picks the methods needed and prepares a work plan.
  3. Carries out supported tasks, with each method's limits and review gates.
  4. Checks the real deliverables and corrects supported faults.
  5. Hands back files, evidence and unresolved gaps.

Your specialist's working setup

Inputs and helpful context

The specialist starts from the task brief. Only active methods require their inputs.

For the primary method, when used

  • The sponsor's entry cash and date (from the closing statement)
  • The management award terms: vested part, hurdle and share (from the plan documents)
  • Net equity proceeds after debt at exit (from the exit statement)
  • The sponsor's distribution at the first anniversary, such as a dividend recap
  • The sponsor's receipt at the second anniversary exit

Helpful context (optional)

  • The exit statement showing debt repaid.
  • The management plan or award letter.

Tools and access

  • A spreadsheet tool and an AI that reads files: A return needs a full cash flow list. The AI should recalculate it and reopen the saved file.
  • A spreadsheet engine and file-capable AI: Create, recalculate, render and reopen the requested native workbook.
  • Node.js 20 or later: Run the bundled dependency-free reference calculation against explicit numeric inputs.
  • Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini: Any of them can do these sums in a chat and show each step.
  • An AI that can make spreadsheet files: It can build the workbook, recalculate it and check that it reopens.
  • Node.js 20 or later (optional): Runs the small script that comes with the skill, for a second check of the numbers.

Functions and deliverables

  • Management award and investor cash return checker: Check a simple management award. Use one investor's actual annual cash payments to calculate the return and cash multiple.
    • The vested management award from net equity proceeds
    • The sponsor's exit receipt after the award
    • The sponsor's yearly return and cash multiple
    • A note on whether the cash dates fit a yearly calculation
    • A list of missing facts and checks that could not run
  • Management equity payout checker: Share award terms and sale proceeds. Check the vested management payout above a fixed value threshold.
    • The vested management payout.
    • The equity value left for other holders.
    • The hurdle shortfall, if equity value is below the hurdle.
    • An editable spreadsheet with your inputs and formulas.
    • A list of missing inputs and checks that did not run.
  • Dividend timing return calculator: Share investment cash and two annual receipts. See how an early dividend affects the measured return.
    • The yearly return (IRR) on the three cash flows
    • The money multiple: total cash received divided by equity paid in
    • The net cash gain in your currency
    • A note on how the dividend was funded, kept apart from the return
    • A list of missing facts and checks that could not run
    • A small workbook with the same sums, if your AI can make files
  • Preferred return accrual calculator: Share simple-return terms, unpaid amounts and dates. Check accrued preference and cash needed for the first payout tier.
    • The preferred return built up in this period
    • The total unpaid preferred return
    • The cash needed first, which is unreturned capital plus the unpaid preferred return
    • A list of missing facts and checks it could not run
    • A small workbook with the same sums, if your AI can make files
  • me.md builder: Answer a few questions, or let your AI use what it remembers. Get one private file that tells any AI who you are.
    • One me.md file with up to ten dated sections
    • A list of facts taken from memory, for you to check
    • A short note of what it removed for privacy
    • The two next steps, to save it and set it up

Tasks you can use it for

  • A sponsor is planning an exit and management asks what their award is worth.
  • You want the sponsor's return after a dividend in the first year.
  • A model gives a management award that looks too big or too small.
  • A reviewer asks you to tie the award and the sponsor return to the same proceeds.

Limits to check before starting

  • There are rollover holders, other investors or a preferred return ahead of management: use the Seller rollover and incentive checker workflow.
  • Your cash dates are not exactly one year apart: this yearly IRR does not fit. Use a date-based IRR in a spreadsheet.
  • You want to compare exit terms for preferred shares: use the Preferred share payout reviewer workflow.

Best way to use this role

Give it one clear outcome, the actual files and a definition of done. Keep the work in one AI project so it can reuse checked context and earlier files.

  • Download the workflow pack and add it to Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini, in a chat that accepts files.
  • Attach the plan documents, closing and exit statements. Say the dates, currency and whether figures are in thousands.
  • Ask your AI to follow the pack and save each step's file.
  • After step 1, check the base is net equity proceeds after debt, not enterprise value.
  • After step 2, check the dates are exactly a year apart before you quote the return. Finish every MISSING line first.
