Hire an AI business group valuation reviewer

Check ownership and segment changes before reusing business values. Count each asset and debt once, and keep missing values clear.

What you give

  • Your last accepted valuation model and review log (optional on a first run)
  • Dated quoted values for any separately held stakes, all on one date

What you get

  • A change memo listing each ownership, segment and holding change, with its source
  • A segment profit bridge to group operating profit, with any gap left open

An example

A company you value files a new segment note, and the segment definitions look different from last year.

You ask: “Check ownership and segment changes before reusing business values. Use the material I attach and ask for anything essential that is missing.”

You get back:

  • Change memo. Each ownership, segment or holding change since the last review, with its filing and date.
  • Treatment ledger. One line for each subsidiary and holding, saying how it is valued and why nothing is counted twice.
  • Segment profit bridge. Segment profit less eliminations and corporate costs, tied to group operating profit, with any gap shown.

An example, not your task.

Skills and workflows for this job: Research investments and business value

Details

Everything it can hand back

Your task sets the actual outputs. The specialist picks the methods that cover them.

  • A change memo listing each ownership, segment and holding change, with its source
  • A treatment ledger giving every subsidiary and holding one treatment and a reason
  • A segment profit bridge to group operating profit, with any gap left open
  • A multiple that counts outside owners' share, and a look-through value for separately held listed stakes
  • A property value bridge when an appraisal is supplied, plus MISSING lines and a record for next time

How it does the job well

  • Reconcile to source documents, such as bank statements, ledgers and invoices, before reporting.
  • Show the calculation, inputs and period for every figure.
  • Label actuals, estimates and forecasts clearly.
  • Send tax, legal and regulatory questions to a qualified professional.

Mistakes it avoids

  • Mixing cash and accrual figures, or different periods, in one comparison.
  • Rounding or formula errors that do not tie back to totals.
  • Giving personal investment advice.

What a good result looks like

An example, not your task: A company you value files a new segment note, and the segment definitions look different from last year.

  • Enterprise value multiple. Parent equity plus debt plus outside owners' value, less cash and separate stakes, divided by group earnings.
  • Holding value per share. Quoted stake values times ownership, plus parent cash, less parent debt and holding costs, per parent share.
  • Property value bridge. Only if an appraisal is supplied. Property value to equity value, and the market discount.

How the work is checked

  • Every subsidiary and holding has one documented treatment. Group profit reconciles. Assets, debt, cash and outside ownership each enter once.
  • A changed ownership share rests on a filing and a date. A value that is unavailable gets no automatic peer estimate. An unresolved perimeter difference stops the valuation lines that depend on it.
  • Trace each material input to its source, date, currency, scale, sign and reporting period. Keep unresolved MISSING: lines.
  • Segment profit, less eliminations and corporate costs, ties to group operating profit. A difference is shown as a source gap, never forced with a plug.
  • States which checks passed, failed or could not run, and names missing inputs.

These checks have not been run against a model yet. Your AI uses them to check its own work.

Capabilities

  • Compares with the last review. Reads the saved record if it belongs to this group, or sets a first baseline. Compares ownership dates, segment definitions, currency and scale. If nothing changed and no review is due, it says so and stops.
  • Ties segment profit to the group. Adds the segment measures, applies signed eliminations and corporate costs, and compares the total with group operating profit. A difference stays a source gap and is never plugged. It hands the checked earnings to the next step.
  • Counts outside owners once. Maps the subsidiaries whose earnings are counted in full. Adds their outside owners' value to enterprise value, so the multiple matches the earnings. Book value and market value of outside owners stay apart.
  • Values separate stakes. Values a quoted stake only where its earnings were left out of the group figure. Reconciles parent-only debt and cash, and labels every addition and exclusion.
  • Adds a property bridge only with evidence. If a nonoperating property holding has a dated appraisal, it builds a separate bridge from property value to equity value. With no appraisal, the property stays missing. It never invents a yield.
  • Checks and saves the record. Checks that every holding has one treatment, profit ties, and each asset and debt enters once. Corrects an affected sum at most twice, then reports the blocker. Writes the record for next time and keeps the old one.

Inputs and helpful context

The specialist starts from the task brief. Only active methods require their inputs.

For the primary method, when used

  • Your last accepted valuation model and review log (optional on a first run)
  • The new segment note, ownership change, or purchase or sale filing, with dates (from the annual report or the filing)
  • Parent-only debt and cash, and consolidated debt and cash (from the parent's accounts)
  • Dated quoted values for any separately held stakes, all on one date
  • A dated property appraisal for a property holding (optional)
  • Your size limit for a material change, and the reporting date, currency and scale

Helpful context (optional)

  • The segment note's own definitions of profit, so segments can be tied to group operating profit.
  • Quoted equity values for every separately held stake, all taken on one date.
  • A named reviewer who knows the group and will check the treatment of each holding.

Tools and access

  • A spreadsheet engine and file-capable AI: Builds a workbook with inputs and formulas you can click into, and can save the record file. In plain chat it returns the same tables as text.
  • The company's annual report: Holds the segment note, the ownership list and the parent-only accounts, each with a page you can cite.
  • A chat AI that reads files and builds spreadsheets: The ledger links segment, ownership and holding schedules. A spreadsheet lets you trace each number. In a plain chat the schedules come back as tables.
  • Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini: Any of them can do these sums in a chat.
  • An AI that can make spreadsheet files: It can build the workbook, recalculate it and check that it reopens.
  • Node.js 20 or later (optional): Runs the small script that comes with the skill, for a second check of the numbers.

    • A list of facts taken from memory, for you to check
    • A short note of what it removed for privacy
    • The two next steps, to save it and set it up

Tasks you can use it for

  • A company you value files a new segment note, and the segment definitions look different from last year.
  • A filing shows the group bought or sold a business, or its share of a subsidiary changed.
  • A parent holds listed stakes, and you need to know which sit inside group profit and which sit outside it.
  • Your reviewer asks which assets and debts are counted once, and which could be counted twice.

Limits to check before starting

  • You have no earlier model and want one check of a group. Use the Group company valuation checker, which runs the same steps once.
  • You only want the value of listed stakes held by a parent. Use the Holding company value calculator.
  • You only want a property appraisal turned into equity value per share. Use the Property net asset value calculator.
  • You want a buy or sell view or a price target. It gives neither, and it uses no live market data.

Best way to use this role

Give it one clear outcome, the actual files and a definition of done. Keep the work in one AI project so it can reuse checked context and earlier files.

  • Download the pack and give it to an AI that can read files, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini. The pack holds the Group company valuation checker workflow and the Property net asset value calculator. In a chat-only tool it still works, but it cannot save files, so you keep the record it hands back.
  • Say whether this is the first run. If not, paste the record from last time. Then attach your last model and the new filing.
  • Read the change memo first. Check each change against the filing and date it names.
  • Check the treatment ledger. Every subsidiary and holding needs one treatment, and none may appear twice.
  • Check the segment bridge by hand. Segments, less eliminations and corporate costs, should equal group operating profit. A gap stays open and is never forced to zero.
  • Fix every MISSING line. Run it again when a new note or filing arrives. Installing it sets up no schedule.
