What it does
A learning task that shows students the difference between two ideas they keep mixing up, by putting the right examples side by side. It follows variation theory, which says people notice a feature only when they see it change. You name the concept and the common confusion, such as students thinking a bigger shape always has a longer perimeter. Claude finds the one critical feature to notice, then uses four moves: contrast the idea with what it is not, vary that feature while holding the rest fixed, show it in different settings, and bring features together. The result is a short task with worked examples and teacher questions. It is built for any subject.
You give it
- The concept to be learned
- The common mistake or confusion
- Year group
- An existing task to improve (optional)
You get
- The key feature to notice
- A task with contrasting examples
- Worked examples
- Questions to ask in class

- Students mix up two ideas such as area and perimeter, or affect and effect.
- Your explanation is clear to you but the same error keeps coming back.
- You want to redesign a worksheet so it shows the key difference.
- You are planning a lesson on a notoriously confused topic.
How to use it
