  • Two or three work samples to link (optional)

  • Design specifications: colors: Primary, secondary and text colours with a use for each.
  • Design specifications: layout: Single or two columns, margins and grid notes for each version.
  • Portfolio integration: Your main portfolio link, which case studies to link, and whether to add a resume page to your site.
  • Content adjustments for your field: Specific changes to your resume content that suit your creative role.
  • Creative resume checklist: A final check of type, layout, colour and links before you send.

Is it for you?

Use it when

  • You apply to creative jobs through online portals and worry the resume will not read well.
  • A hiring manager asks for your resume and you want it to show your design eye.
  • You are updating your portfolio site and want the resume to match it.

Skip it when

  • You need your resume text rewritten or scored for one job: ask your AI to edit your bullets directly, since this plan covers layout only.
  • You have no resume yet and no portfolio: write the plain content first in a simple document, then come back.
  • You want a finished file made for you: ask a designer, or build it in Canva, Figma or Word using the plan.

How the task works

  • Step 1. Choose when a plain or designed resume is appropriate.
  • Step 2. Set type, colour, spacing and section rules for both versions.
  • Step 3. Link the resume to relevant work samples. Check that the plain version pastes cleanly into a plain-text box and that each portfolio link opens.

Full instructions

  • Open Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini and paste the skill text into a new chat. No code or paid tool is needed.
  • Paste your resume text and tell it your creative field and where you will apply.
  • Add your portfolio link and the two or three work samples you want to show.
  • Read the plan. Check that the plain version has one column, no images and simple fonts.
  • Build both versions in Word, Google Docs, Canva or Figma. Where a result sits in your resume, only add a number if you measured it.
  • Run the checklist, then send the plain version to portals and the designed version to people.

Creative Portfolio Resume

Before you start

Use the material below to do this job. If facts or tool access are missing, explain what you can finish and what must wait.

What you need (use your own material or the linked skill):

  • Resumes or CVs (yours): the resumes or CVs this job uses, pasted or attached.

Makes it better (optional):

  • Your question (yours): the decision or problem, and what a good outcome looks like.

How to start:

  1. Look first. Use what they've already attached, pasted or put in their about-me note. In a coding assistant with file access, look in the project too for these by name.
  2. Check what's missing. Look for resumes or CVs, your question. They can attach files, paste the details, or share a file path your assistant can read. Ask only for missing facts that change the result. If they ask you to start with what they have, complete the parts you can and mark the gaps.
  3. Do the job. Follow the skill below with the facts and tools you have. Mark each gap with MISSING: where it belongs and never invent a fact to fill it.

Use Designed Version When:
