Metric-driven file improver
Pick a file and a score. Get an agent that edits, measures and keeps only changes that raise the score.
Metric-driven file improver is a free AI skill for the job "Set up AI to work for you". Give the instructions to an AI assistant that supports the required files and tools, then review its output.

What it does
A file that gets better while you sleep, because an agent tries changes, measures each one and keeps only those that raise your score. Give it one file and one way to score it, and it runs dozens of small experiments instead of one guess. You set it up once with the file, the test that produces a number, and how often to run. In each round the agent edits the file, runs the fixed test, and compares the score. Changes that help stay and those that do not are dropped. You can run one round, loop on a timer, check results, or resume a paused run. It needs Python to run.
You give it
- The file to improve
- A command that gives a score
- Run frequency and a stopping point
- Your project folder to run it in
You get
- A better version of the file
- A log of every experiment and score
- A status dashboard
- The ability to pause and resume
Use it when
- You want a script to run faster and have a benchmark to prove it.
- You want headlines or prompts improved overnight against a score.
- You have a metric to move from one value to another.
- You want a record of every try, not just the final version.
How to use it
- Add it to your AI once: download it and add the folder to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as a skill.
- Ask for the job in your own words. Your AI opens the skill when it fits.
- It works best when your AI can run code, use git and run commands on a timer.
