What it does
Give it a YouTube video or a channel and get transcripts, video lists and a check for new uploads, all as text you can read, search and quote. It uses TranscriptAPI, a paid service with a free starter allowance and your own key. A transcript costs one credit and can include timestamps and video details. It can search YouTube for a topic, list a channel's latest 15 uploads for free, page through all of a channel's videos, and search within one channel. Before fetching transcripts it checks the latest list, so you only pay for new videos. It suits summaries, quote hunting and watching a channel for new posts. For local extraction without a key, it points to other tools.
You give it
- A video link, a topic, or a channel @handle
- Your TranscriptAPI key
- What you want from the text, such as a summary or quotes (optional)
You get
- A timestamped transcript
- A list of matching videos
- The latest uploads with views and dates
- Search hits inside a channel
Use it when
- You need the transcript of a talk to pull quotes from.
- You track a creator and want to know if they posted something new.
- You want to find videos on a topic and read them quickly.
- You want to search one channel's library for a phrase.
How to use it
- Add it to your AI once: download it and add the folder to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as a skill.
- Ask for the job in your own words. Your AI opens the skill when it fits.
- It works best when your AI can run code and use your TranscriptAPI key.
Workflows that use it
- Cut, chapter and clip a long video into five shorts
- Pick a title and thumbnail, then fix where viewers leave
