What it does
Most companies describe themselves by their features and wonder why the pitch does not land. The buyers who already chose you know why they did, and it is rarely the feature list. April Dunford's public method starts there: look at who you won, find what they valued that only you had, and build the message on that. This prompt tables your deals with the buyer's words for why and for doubts. It finds what the winning buyers had in common and what they said they valued, quoting them, and marks anything that appears only once as thin. It does the same for losses. It separates win reasons, the things buyers chose you for, from objections you had to get past, because the first makes headlines and the second needs answers. It names your best-fit buyer, writes the value line in buyer words with three proof points from the deals, and…
You give it
- Six or more deals, won and lost, with buyer words
- What you sell, in a paragraph
- The alternatives buyers weigh (advised)
- Your current message (optional)
You get
- A deal table with quoted reasons and doubts
- Win and loss patterns, with thin ones marked
- Win reasons separated from objections handled
- Your best-fit buyer, the value line and three proof points
Use it when
- Your pitch lists features and buyers' eyes glaze.
- You win some deals and lose others and cannot say why.
- You are rewriting your home page and want it built on real win reasons.
