What it does
A summary tells you what a source said. A week later you cannot remember whether the big claim rested on a study or a story, and you have to read it again. Research notes that last keep the claims, the evidence and the gaps apart. This prompt reads the whole source and records who wrote it and what they might gain. It pulls every claim in one line with a short quote and its location, rates the evidence for each as data, example, assertion or opinion, and names what the source leaves out or assumes. If you give your question, it says what the source adds and what it does not settle. It keeps three short quotes with locations and writes an 80-word summary that claims no more than the evidence allows.
You give it

- The question you are reading it for (advised)
