What it does
Handover notes get written on the last afternoon, in the order things come to mind. The person covering reads four pages and still misses the invoice that had to go out on Tuesday. What they needed was the dangerous things first and everything else findable. This prompt reorders your brain dump. The time bombs go first, each with a date and an action. Then what is due in the window, then each live piece of work with its status, next step, files and the decision that may come up. It maps the tools and folders with how access is granted, never a password, describes each person and how to deal with them, lists what to leave alone until you are back, and sets how you can be reached. If a deadline has no date, it says so rather than losing it.
You give it
- A brain dump of everything about the work, in any order
- Who takes over and for how long
- Your dates and the deadlines in the window (advised)
- What the taker-over already knows (optional)
You get
- Time bombs first, each with a date and an action
- What is due, live work with next steps, and where things live
- The people and how to deal with them, what to leave alone, how to reach you

- You are leaving a job and want the successor to start well.
