What it does
Most security work starts too late, after something is built. A threat list asks the plain question first: what could someone do to this, and where? Teams that skip it fix the loud problems and miss the quiet ones. This prompt uses six standard kinds of attack, called STRIDE, as a checklist for every place outside people or services touch your system. You get the likely ones, ranked, with one fix each. It is a first pass, not a full audit.
You give it
- What the system does
- Its parts and who uses it
- What matters most to protect
You get
- A list of parts and entry points
- The top threats, ranked, with likelihood and damage
- One practical fix for each
- What was assumed and what to confirm
Use it when
- You are designing something that holds customer data.
- You are about to add a login, payment or API.
- You need a short list to take to a security person.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt, then paste it into your AI chat (Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini).
- Under it, paste your details, one item for each line in What you need.
- Send it and read the reply against the checks at the end of the prompt.
- Answer anything marked MISSING and send it again, or ask for one part to be redone.
