What it does
A task list is a wish. Twenty items, forty hours of work, fifteen hours of real focus, and on Friday the list is the same with three new things on it. The problem is never effort. It is that nothing was ever measured against the time. This prompt sizes every task, adds them up against your hours and says the gap out loud. It picks the three tasks that most move the results you named or have a hard deadline, places them in specific slots with the hardest early in the week, and leaves a quarter of your time open for what will come up anyway. The rest is batched if small, pushed to next week with its deadline risk, dropped if you would not start it today, or handed to a named person. You end with one line to check on Friday.
You give it
- Your task list with any deadlines
- The focused hours you really have
- The one or two results this week should move (advised)
- Fixed meetings and their times (optional)
You get
- Every task sized and the gap stated
- The big three placed in real slots
- The rest batched, pushed, dropped or handed off
- A one-line Friday test
Use it when
- It is Sunday night and the list is longer than the week.
- You keep finishing the small things and never starting the big one.
- You want to tell your manager or your team what will and will not happen this week.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt, then paste it into Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini with your list under it.
- Be honest about your hours. Count focus time, not time at a desk.
- Read the BIG THREE. If one is wrong, say which should replace it and run again.
- Put the slots in your calendar and send the NEXT WEEK and ASK lines to whoever needs them.
