What it does
Most searches end without a click. Most social posts are read in the feed and never opened. Content built to drag people to your site fights that, and loses. Rand Fishkin's public case is to stop fighting: give the full answer where people already are, name the brand as the source, and earn the memory that turns into a brand search later. This prompt takes the questions your buyers really ask and the places you know they spend time. It picks eight to twelve questions worth answering completely, matches each to a place with a reason, and writes the answer in that place's native form, under 120 words, with the brand named once and one fact a reader would repeat. It sets the signals to watch per place, with clicks last, orders six weeks of pieces, and notes the few that will earn a visit anyway.
You give it
- The questions buyers ask, as written
- Where they spend time, with evidence
- What you know that they do not (advised)
- Your claims and voice (optional)
- Brand brain (optional)
You get
- Eight to twelve questions matched to places
- A complete native answer per piece with a memory hook
- What to measure instead of clicks, and a six-week order
Use it when
- Your blog traffic is falling and your posts get read in the feed instead.
- You want AI assistants and search snippets to quote your answers.
- You have expertise your buyers need and no plan for giving it away.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt, then paste it into Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini with the questions under it.
- List the places with evidence, such as where your customers say they found you.
- Read QUESTIONS CHOSEN. Swap any that are sales questions in disguise.
- Publish week one's pieces and track the MEASURE signals, not clicks.
