Hire an AI recommendation mention tracker
Repeat fixed shopper questions and track actual brand mentions. Compare past runs and propose a few changes based on the evidence.
What you give
- Your product facts, price range and who the products are for
- Your 3 to 6 main rivals (optional, but without them it can only report your own share)
- Your store address and key pages, such as returns and shipping (optional)
What you get
- What moved against last month, and what is only normal wobble
- A check of last month's fixes, marked moved, no change or too early
- Wrong facts the assistants stated, with the source they used and the fix
- Up to three fixes to approve, each with its reason and the size of the work
An example
Shoppers in your category ask AI assistants for store or product picks, and you want to know if yours is named.
You ask: “Repeat fixed shopper questions and track actual brand mentions. Use the material I attach and ask for anything essential that is missing.”
You get back:
- This month. Your share of mentions overall and for each assistant, with the number of valid runs behind it.
- What moved. Questions where you or your rivals gained or lost, with small changes marked as normal wobble.
- Last fixes checked. Each earlier fix marked moved, no change or too early.
An example, not your task.

Details
Everything it can hand back
Your task sets the actual outputs. The specialist picks the methods that cover them.
- Your share of mentions overall and for each assistant, with the number of valid runs behind it
- What moved against last month, and what is only normal wobble
- A check of last month's fixes, marked moved, no change or too early
- Wrong facts the assistants stated, with the source they used and the fix
- Up to three fixes to approve, each with its reason and the size of the work
How it does the job well
- Write for one named audience and one action. Each asset has a single job.
- Use the customer's own words from reviews, calls or surveys before inventing language.
- Every claim needs proof the business can show. Leave unproven claims out or mark them.
- Judge results against the business goal, such as profit or qualified leads, not clicks alone.
Mistakes it avoids
- Calling a small change a win or a loss. Answers differ from run to run.
- Changing the question list mid-way.
- Counting a mention without a link the same as a named, linked one when the skill separates them.
- Making many fixes at once, so you cannot tell which one worked.
- Promising that a fix will get the store named. Assistants decide for themselves.
- Generic copy that could fit any brand.
What a good result looks like
An example, not your task: Shoppers in your category ask AI assistants for store or product picks, and you want to know if yours is named.
- This month. Your share of mentions overall and for each assistant, with the number of valid runs behind it.
- What moved. Questions where you or your rivals gained or lost, with small changes marked as normal wobble.
- Last fixes checked. Each earlier fix marked moved, no change or too early.
- Wrong facts. Each wrong claim an assistant made, the source it used and the fix.
- Fixes to approve. At most three fixes, each with its reason and the size of the work.
- Files and missing. Each step's saved file, then every MISSING line in one list.
How the work is checked
- The questions and assistants are the same as last month.
- The number of valid runs is shown for every share.
- Changes under the bar were called wobble, not wins or losses.
- No more than 3 fixes were proposed.
- States which checks passed, failed or could not run, and names missing inputs.
These checks have not been run against a model yet. Your AI uses them to check its own work.
Capabilities
- Build the panel. Builds the fixed list of shopper questions once and saves it, so every month is run the same way.
- Run the panel. Asks each assistant each question and records who is named, who is linked and which sources are quoted.
- Compare with last month. Sets your share and each rival's share against last month. A change under five points is called normal wobble.
- Check last month's fixes. Looks at the questions each fix aimed at and marks it moved, no change or too early.
- Choose the path. Wrong facts go first. A real fall sends it to the gap finder, then to the quoted sources or your own pages, depending on the gap.
- Limit the fixes. Keeps at most three fixes a month so the next run can show which one worked.
How the role works
- Checks your task, context and available tools.
- Picks the methods needed and prepares a work plan.
- Carries out supported tasks, with each method's limits and review gates.
- Checks the real deliverables and corrects supported faults.
- Hands back files, evidence and unresolved gaps.

- Customer questions from reviews, tickets or search terms (optional)
- Your store address and key pages, such as returns and shipping (optional)

Tools and access
- Claude Code: It can keep the visibility folder, read last month's files and run every step on a schedule.
- ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity: Run the questions here with web search on. Use the same ones every month.
- Perplexity: Shows the searches it runs for each question, so you can see fan-out directly.
- Google Search: People Also Ask boxes give related questions. Click deeper levels for second-level ones.
- Any good chat AI: Turns keywords into questions and groups them.
- Any good chat AI: Records and counts the runs you paste in, and sorts the sources.
- A spreadsheet: Enough for a small panel. A paid answer tracker only pays off at hundreds of questions.
- Ahrefs Brand Radar or Semrush: Paid trackers can run large panels. Check the vendor's current price and pick the cheapest one that does the job.
- Any good chat AI: Sorts panel results into the six gaps and ranks them.
- Ahrefs Brand Radar: A paid tool that speeds up the missed citation and competitor filters. Not required.
- A spreadsheet: Keeps your gap table and ranked list in one place.
- Any good chat AI: Compares AI answers with your facts and drafts the fix text.
- Google Business Profile: A common listing AI draws on. Keep name, address and phone the same everywhere.
- Your review platforms: Set alerts for new reviews so you can reply fast.
- Any good chat AI: Several different AI tools give a wider picture of what gets cited. Copy each answer's sources by hand if you have no tracker.
- A spreadsheet: The target sheet works best as a shared sheet where you can tick opportunities and log status.
- Google Search Console: Shows if your key pages are indexed. Indexing is the first step for AI search that uses Google's results.
- Bing Webmaster Tools: ChatGPT's search draws on Bing's index, so submit your sitemap here too.
- A schema validator: Free tools show if your product name, price and availability are readable.
- Any good chat AI: Reads robots.txt and page text you paste, and rewrites weak fact lines.
- Shopify: Product and collection templates hold the title, H1, spec table and FAQ. Themes often make the logo the home page H1, so check section level.
- A schema validator: Free tools show if product, offer and review markup is valid.
- Google Search Console: Shows if the page is indexed and which queries it gets.

Tasks you can use it for
- Shoppers in your category ask AI assistants for store or product picks, and you want to know if yours is named.
- You changed a page to be named by AI assistants and want to know whether it worked.
- An assistant said something wrong about your store, and you want to catch that each month.
- A rival keeps showing up in AI answers and you want to see how often, and why.
Limits to check before starting
- You want a one-off check today. Use the AI search visibility tester, which runs one set of questions.
- You already know which rivals are named and want to know why. Use the AI search recommendation gap finder.
- Your buyers do not ask AI assistants for picks, for example a very local trade or a custom-order business. A manual spot check each quarter is enough.
- You want to check whether Google ranks your pages. Use the Search Console quick-win finder.
Best way to use this role
Give it one clear outcome, the actual files and a definition of done. Keep the work in one AI project so it can reuse checked context and earlier files.
- Add the agent to your AI. In Claude Code, save it in .claude/agents or add it as a skill. In Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini, paste it at the start of a chat. It keeps a visibility folder, so Claude Code is easiest; in a plain chat, paste last month's numbers.
- The first month, give it your product facts and rivals. It builds a list of 10 to 20 shopper questions and saves it. Do not edit the list later, or months cannot be compared.
- Pick the assistants and use the same ones every month, with web search on. Your AI can only ask the assistant it runs in. For any other, paste each question in yourself and paste the answer back.
- The agent stops before step 2 every month until you confirm you have checked the terms of each assistant for repeated questions. Some limit repeated or automated use. Free versions often skip web search, and some features may need a paid plan. No paid tool is needed.
- Read the wrong facts first, then the fix list. Make the fixes you agree with, or say yes to each one and let it make only those.
- Run it again next month with the same questions. Pair it with the AI recommendation gap finder when a rival keeps winning.
