Hire an AI currency forward contract coverage reviewer
Find your open foreign currency exposure and settlement cash after a forward contract. Recheck when a bill, rate or bank notice changes.
What you give
- The settlement rate and any fees (from the bank's settlement notice or contract)
- The reporting currency, and the base rate and any scenario rate you want tested
- The last review's record and the earlier source versions (optional, needed to see what changed)
What you get
- What changed since the last review, source by source
- A cash check against a bank collateral block, when one is documented
- A short record to paste into the next review, plus MISSING lines and any checks that could not run
An example
A supplier invoice in a foreign currency changes before its due date.
You ask: “Find your open foreign currency exposure and settlement cash after a forward contract. Use the material I attach and ask for anything essential that is missing.”
You get back:
- Changed since last review. Each bill, contract amount, rate or notice that moved, with its old value, new value and source.
- Exposure. Receipts less payments plus the forward, as an open foreign amount, translated at your base and scenario rates.
- Settlement. Cash locked by the forward, cash bought at the settlement rate and fees, with any open or over-hedged amount.
An example, not your task.

Details
Everything it can hand back
Your task sets the actual outputs. The specialist picks the methods that cover them.
- What changed since the last review, source by source
- An exposure bridge: receipts, payments, the forward and the open amount in foreign currency, translated at your rates
- A settlement schedule: cash locked by the forward, cash bought at the settlement rate, fees, and any over-hedge or open amount
- A cash check against a bank collateral block, when one is documented
- A short record to paste into the next review, plus MISSING lines and any checks that could not run
How it does the job well
- Reconcile to source documents, such as bank statements, ledgers and invoices, before reporting.
- Show the calculation, inputs and period for every figure.
- Label actuals, estimates and forecasts clearly.
- Send tax, legal and regulatory questions to a qualified professional.
Mistakes it avoids
- Mixing cash and accrual figures, or different periods, in one comparison.
- Rounding or formula errors that do not tie back to totals.
- Giving personal investment advice.
What a good result looks like
An example, not your task: A supplier invoice in a foreign currency changes before its due date.
- Cash check. Only if the bank documents a block. Usable cash after restricted and blocked cash, against cash needed.
- Record for next review. A short record to paste into your next run.
- Missing and checks missed. Each gap, and each check that failed or could not run.
How the work is checked
- Due date, currency units and rate quote direction match across every table.
- The forward amount appears once in the exposure netting and once in the settlement. It is never two hedges.
- Locked cash plus cash bought at the settlement rate plus fees equals total settlement cash.
- Open exposure times the change in rate equals the move between the base and scenario translations.
- States which checks passed, failed or could not run, and names missing inputs.
These checks have not been run against a model yet. Your AI uses them to check its own work.
Capabilities
- Compares with the last review. Reads the saved record if it belongs to this currency and due date, or sets a first baseline. Compares the amounts, the contract ID, the quote direction and the source dates. If nothing changed and no review is due, it says so and stops.
- Nets the exposure. Adds up foreign receipts and subtracts payments for the due date. Adds a forward that buys currency as a positive amount, and one that sells as a negative. Keeps the open amount in foreign currency, then translates it at your base and scenario rates.
- Settles the forward. Works out the cash the forward locks at its contract rate and compares it with the same amount at the settlement rate. Applies the currency bought to the original bill, never to the already-netted figure. Shows the open amount, any over-hedge, the fees and the total cash.
- Checks a collateral block only if one is documented. Splits the bank balance into usable, restricted, blocked and unverified parts, using the bank's own notice. It never works out a collateral call from a rate scenario or arranges a trade.
- Saves the record. Writes the small record for next time and lists what is still MISSING. It proposes a state update and keeps the old one.

Inputs and helpful context
The specialist starts from the task brief. Only active methods require their inputs.
For the primary method, when used
- The receivables, payables and firm commitments due in one currency on one date, with their IDs (from your ledgers)
- The forward contract confirmation: buy or sell, foreign amount, forward rate, due date and ID (from your bank)
- The settlement rate and any fees (from the bank's settlement notice or contract)
- The reporting currency, and the base rate and any scenario rate you want tested
- Any bank collateral notice and your list of restricted cash (optional, only if a block is in question)
- The last review's record and the earlier source versions (optional, needed to see what changed)
Helpful context (optional)
- A ledger export of the bills and receipts due on that date, each with an ID.
- The bank's collateral notice, if the contract has one.
- A named person who owns the hedge policy and will check the quote direction and the rates.
Tools and access
- A spreadsheet engine and file-capable AI: Builds a workbook with inputs and formulas you can click into, and can save the record file for next time. In plain chat it returns the same tables as text.
- Your bank's forward confirmation and settlement notice: Give the contract rate, amount, date and fees as facts, so nothing rests on a guess.
- A chat AI that reads files and builds spreadsheets: The sums are small, and each rate and date must match the contract. A spreadsheet shows every cell. In a plain chat it comes back as tables.
- Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini: Any of them can do these sums in a chat and show each step.
- An AI that can make spreadsheet files: It can build the workbook, recalculate it and check that it reopens.
- Node.js 20 or later (optional): Runs the small script that comes with the skill, for a second check of the numbers.

- One me.md file with up to ten dated sections
- A list of facts taken from memory, for you to check
- A short note of what it removed for privacy
- The two next steps, to save it and set it up
Tasks you can use it for
- A supplier invoice in a foreign currency changes before its due date.
- The bank sends a new confirmation for your forward contract.
- The settlement rate is fixed and you want the cash that will leave your account.
- The bank tells you part of your cash is blocked as collateral on the contract.
Limits to check before starting
- You want to choose a new hedge, trade or place an order. It reviews an existing contract and takes no action. Ask your bank or treasury adviser.
- Your forward sells the foreign currency, for example to cover a customer receipt. The settlement step handles contracts that buy foreign currency only.
- You have no confirmation for the forward. It marks the contract MISSING and stops, because an unsigned deal is not a hedge.
- You need a forecast of where the rate will go. It uses the rates you supply and does not predict any.
- You only want to know how much cash you can use today. Use the Spendable cash balance checker.
Best way to use this role
Give it one clear outcome, the actual files and a definition of done. Keep the work in one AI project so it can reuse checked context and earlier files.
- Download the pack and give it to an AI that can read files, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini. The pack holds the Currency exposure and forward settlement checker workflow and the Spendable cash balance checker. In a chat-only tool it still works, but it cannot save files, so you keep the record it hands back.
- Say whether this is the first run. If not, paste last time's record. Then attach the ledger lines for the due date, the forward confirmation and the settlement notice.
- State the quote direction once, such as "dollars per euro". Check that every rate in the result uses it.
- Check that the forward amount appears once in the exposure bridge and once in the settlement. Check that the cash adds up: locked cash, plus bought cash, plus fees.
- Fix every MISSING line. Run it again whenever a bill, a confirmation, a rate or a bank notice changes. Installing it sets up no schedule.
