What it does
Entering a crowded category can be smart. Buyers already know what the product is, so you pay to say why yours is better, not to explain what it is. The hard part is finding a gap that is real, and changing only as much as buyers will accept. This skill compares the leaders on price, where they sell, taste or quality and who they ignore. It also checks if the category looks the same everywhere, and whether a wider shift in how people live has not reached it. It adds a one-change rule: change one big thing, not three. The output is a ranked gap list, a one-line position for each, the first proof you need and a short test. It uses real review and price data you give it, and it will not make up a gap.
You give it
- Your category and the top three to five brands in it
- Their prices, where they sell and the common complaints in their reviews
- Your strengths, such as price, distribution, taste or brand (optional)
- Photos or lists of the top ten products (optional)
- Who buys and where they buy (optional)
- Brand brain (optional)
- Customer words (optional)
You get
- A list of gaps, ranked by how much money you could win
- A one-line position for each gap
- The first proof you need for the top gap
- A sea-of-sameness report, shifts the category has missed, and ideas borrowed from far away
- A one-change product idea and a short test plan
Use it when
- You want to start a product line in a big category and need a point of difference.
- Your category looks the same everywhere, with the same packs, claims and colors.
- You have a product idea and want to know which single change would matter most to buyers.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Paste the category and the top brands, with price, where each sells and review complaints. Add photos of the top products if you can.
- Say what you are good at, such as price or reach. A small store needs a smaller version of any big gap.
- Read the ranked gaps and the proof needed for the top one. Check the facts yourself.
- Run the short test before you order stock.
