What it does
Fraud costs a store the sale, the product and a dispute fee. Too many chargebacks is worse: processors flag accounts above 0.9 percent and can stop taking cards above 1 percent (check the exact figures with your processor). But rules that are too tight hold up real buyers, so you lose sales too. This skill uses the order risk rating your platform already gives each order, and sets what happens at each level: take payment on low risk, send a notice on medium, hold high for review. It also covers extra card checks, protection cover you may qualify for, a checklist for held orders and a monthly loop to loosen or tighten. It fits your volume and your review time, so you never hold orders nobody will look at.
You give it
- Monthly orders and average order value
- Chargeback count and rate over the last 3 months
- Your payment setup (Shopify Payments or a third-party gateway)
- Who can review orders and how many hours a week
- Recent false declines or complaints from real buyers (optional)
- Your results (optional)
You get
- A rule set by risk level, ready to build in your platform
- A manual review checklist and a 24-hour release-or-cancel routine
- A chargeback watch line with a warning level before the processor's limit
- A monthly loop to tune the rules, and a list of checks it could not make
Use it when
- You get chargebacks and want rules instead of checking every order by hand.
- You are on Shopify Payments and have never set up Flow rules for risky orders.
- Real buyers complain about declined cards and you suspect your checks are too tight.
