AI Blocks › Build and ship software
Huge image processor
Give it a very large image. Get it processed in blocks and in parallel without running out of memory.
Huge image processor is a free AI skill for the job "Build and ship software". Give the instructions to an AI assistant that supports the required files and tools, then review its output.

What it does
A way to work with images too big to open at once, in MATLAB, without running out of memory. Whole-slide microscope scans, satellite maps and 3D volumes get read, processed and saved in small blocks, even across many processor cores. The skill wraps your image as a blocked image so only the needed tiles load. It first asks what you want: view, process, train a model or archive. For folders of many files, it follows a seven-step data discovery routine before any code. Reference notes cover viewing with overlays, labeling and training data, 3D, geospatial files, custom file readers and writing results block by block. Any large TIFF is checked first. It needs MATLAB with the Image Processing Toolbox.
You give it
- The large image file or folder
- What you want to do with it
- Details of file format or coordinates (optional)
- MATLAB with the Image Processing Toolbox
You get
- Working MATLAB code using blocked images
- A block-by-block processing plan
- Parallel processing setup
- Viewing or training data preparation steps
Use it when
- A TIFF or scan is so large that MATLAB runs out of memory.
- You process whole-slide pathology images or satellite rasters.
- Your image-processing loop is slow and you want it to run in parallel.
- You need training data cut from huge images for a deep learning model.
How to use it
- Add it to your AI once: download it and add the folder to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as a skill.
- Ask for the job in your own words. Your AI opens the skill when it fits.
- It works best when your AI can run MATLAB with the Image Processing Toolbox.
