Inertial sensor fusion builder
Describe your sensors. Get the right fusion filter chosen and built to track orientation or position.
Inertial sensor fusion builder is a free AI skill for the job "Build and ship software". Give the instructions to an AI assistant that supports the required files and tools, then review its output.

What it does
The right fusion filter chosen and built for your sensors, so you can track orientation or position from accelerometers, gyros, magnetometers and GPS. It is for MATLAB with the Navigation Toolbox. The skill asks which sensors you have and at what rates. If your set matches a ready-made one, such as accelerometer plus gyro plus magnetometer, or gyro plus GPS for a ground vehicle, it uses a configured filter. If not, or if rates are mixed or samples drop, it moves to a flexible filter you set up piece by piece. It then guides tuning of noise values. Camera-only or lidar-only mapping and Simulink models are out of scope.
You give it
- The list of sensors you have
- Sample rates and any dropouts
- What you want to estimate
- Recorded data (optional)
You get
- A filter choice with the reason
- MATLAB code to build it
- Tuning guidance
- A way to check the output against truth
Use it when
- You have an IMU and need a stable orientation estimate.
- You combine GPS with inertial sensors for a vehicle.
- Your sensors run at different rates and drop samples.
- You do not know which filter fits your sensor mix.
- Your estimate drifts and you need to tune the noise settings.
How to use it
- Add it to your AI once: download it and add the folder to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as a skill.
- Ask for the job in your own words. Your AI opens the skill when it fits.
- It works best when your AI can run MATLAB with Navigation Toolbox.
