What it does
A staged plan to move one package to a new major version, with a clear picture of what will break and tests after every step. It replaces the risky all-at-once upgrade. You name the package and version. The plan checks the version change type, which signals how big the break may be. It builds a compatibility table showing which of your other packages must change first. Then it splits the work into small stages, each with tests that run before moving on, plus a rollback point. Some helper files it refers to are not bundled, so steps that need them are flagged as unavailable rather than guessed. It gives you a checklist you can follow.
You give it
- The package and target version
- Your dependency file
- Your test setup
- Deadlines or freeze dates (optional)
You get
- A list of likely breaking changes
- A compatibility table
- Staged upgrade steps
- Tests for each stage
- Rollback points
Use it when
- A framework has a new major release and you fear breaking your app.
- You have many outdated packages and need an order to update them.
- Your tests pass but you do not trust the upgrade.
- You need to explain upgrade risk to your team before starting.
How to use it
- Add it to your AI once: download it and add the folder to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as a skill.
- Ask for the job in your own words. Your AI opens the skill when it fits.
- It works best when your AI can run code and read your project files.
