What it does
A plain write-up of how you got your answer, so readers trust it. Tell it the method and who reads it, and you get a short section that says what was asked, what data was used, what was done, what was assumed, and where it falls short. It starts by picking the depth for the reader: executive, analyst or technical. It then picks a structure, such as a story, a layered summary or a deeper appendix. Statistical terms are swapped for business words using a translation table. Every explanation gets at least one honest limit and what it means for the conclusion. The result fits a ready write-up template or a slide template.
