What it does
A report on the licenses in your project's dependencies, showing which ones clash, what each requires of you, and where the risk sits. It helps you avoid a surprise when you publish or sell your software. The skill reads your dependency file and follows the chain to every package underneath. It finds each license, then checks how they fit together given how you share your software: as a service, a download, a library or an internal tool. It flags strong copyleft licenses such as GPL and AGPL and weaker ones such as LGPL and MPL. The report lists notices you must include and suggests fixes. It is not legal advice.
You give it
- Your dependency file, such as package.json
- Your project's own license
- How you distribute it
- Package versions (optional)
You get
- A license inventory table
- Compatibility analysis
- Copyleft risk flags with severity
- Required notices and suggested fixes
Use it when
- You are about to publish your project and want to know if a dependency's license blocks it.
- A customer asks for a list of third-party licenses.
- You added a GPL package and are not sure what that means.
- You want to know which attribution notices you must ship.
How to use it
- Add it to your AI once: download it and add the folder to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as a skill.
- Ask for the job in your own words. Your AI opens the skill when it fits.
- It works best when your AI can run code and read your project files.
