PCB signal loss analyzer
Give it a PCB design. Get S-parameters, insertion loss and fields computed with the right solver.
PCB signal loss analyzer is a free AI skill for the job "Build and ship software". Give the instructions to an AI assistant that supports the required files and tools, then review its output.

What it does
Know how much signal your RF board part loses, reflects and radiates before you build it. You get S-parameters, insertion loss and field plots from a solver chosen to match the shape of your design. The skill helps you choose between the method-of-moments and finite-element solvers, set mesh density to trade accuracy for speed, and use interpolating sweeps so a wide frequency range does not take hours. You can plot electric and magnetic fields, surface currents and charge. For fast early estimates it can use simple analytic models instead of a full solve. It runs in MATLAB with the RF PCB Toolbox and needs a component already built.
You give it
- A designed RF PCB component
- Your frequency range
- Port impedance, often 50 ohms
- Accuracy or speed priority (optional)
You get
- S-parameters over your band
- Insertion and return loss
- Field and current plots
- A solver and mesh choice with reasons
Use it when
- Your filter or line is built and you need its insertion loss across a band.
- A full solve takes too long and you want a faster sweep method.
- You want to see where current crowds on a trace.
- You are unsure which solver suits your structure.
How to use it
- Add it to your AI once: download it and add the folder to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as a skill.
- Ask for the job in your own words. Your AI opens the skill when it fits.
- It works best when your AI can run MATLAB with Antenna Toolbox.
