What it does
A thinking task built from the facts and methods of your own subject, so students reason like a historian, a scientist or a mathematician, not in a vague 'critical thinking' way. You give the topic, the stage and the subject. The skill first checks what knowledge students need before they can think about it at all. It states how experts in that discipline judge good thinking, then sets the task, such as weighing causes of the First World War. It supplies the sources and tools students use, assessment guidance for what strong reasoning looks like, and notes to help you improve the task over time.
You give it
- The topic
- Subject and year level
- What students already know
- The type of thinking you want
- Existing learning targets (optional)
You get
- A check of needed prior knowledge
- A statement of how experts in the subject reason
- The task itself
- Sources and tools for students
- Marking guidance
Use it when
- You are asked to teach critical thinking but your subject is history or science.
- Students can recall facts but cannot argue from them.
- You want one strong task for a unit, not a general skills lesson.
- You need to know how to mark thinking, not only answers.
How to use it
- Add it to your AI once: download it and add the folder to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as a skill.
- Ask for the job in your own words. Your AI opens the skill when it fits.
