What it does
Planning every turn before you write tends to make a stiff story. The writer knows where it ends, and so do the people, and nothing surprises anyone. A different way is to start with the situation and see what happens, the way a reader would. This skill writes that way. It starts from your situation and flat sketches of the people. At each turn it asks one question: what would these people really do next? It writes that, in order, in plain words, and keeps going to the day's word count. It does not look back or fix anything. It also keeps a facts sheet of names, ages, places and promises made on the page, so the next day's pages do not contradict the last. The first draft is allowed to be rough. The second draft is where it gets fixed.
You give it
- Your situation and the people
- The detail sheet from the scene detail picker (optional)
- The day's word count, or it will use 1,000
- Yesterday's facts sheet and last paragraph, from day two on
- Plan (optional)
You get
- The day's pages, in order, ending at the count
- A facts sheet of names, ages, places and promises on the page
- Tomorrow's first question
- A line saying what you did not touch
Use it when
- You have a situation and keep postponing the first scene.
- You write a page and then rewrite it all week.
- You want a draft that surprises you.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- On day one, paste your situation and, if you have it, the detail sheet and your daily count.
- Read the pages once, then close them. Do not edit.
- Save the facts sheet. On day two, paste it with the last paragraph and ask it to go on.
- Keep going until the story ends by itself.
