What it does
A business that only takes is on the way out, even if it looks well now. The test is whether each group you deal with comes out ahead: owners, staff, partners or sellers and customers. Most teams only know the owner's number. This skill builds a number for each group, using the figure that works as the bottom line of that group's dealings with you. Owners get net income. Staff get pay and benefits. Partners get their profit from you. Customers get one measure, such as time saved or cost cut, with a conservative price on it. Each estimate carries its assumptions in plain words. The tally ends with the group you serve least well and one change.
You give it
- The groups you deal with
- Figures for each: net income, pay, partner profit, customer savings or time (whatever you have)
- Customer behaviour, such as time per purchase (optional)
- Plan (optional)
You get
- One bottom-line figure per group
- The assumption beside each
- A customer estimate on one measure
- A total and the weakest estimate
- The group you serve least well and one change
Use it when
- You want to show a wider view than profit in your letter or review.
- You suspect one group, such as staff or partners, is getting too little.
- You are asked what good your business does.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- List the groups and the figures you have for each.
- Say what you think each group gains from dealing with you.
- Read the assumptions first. Change any that are too generous.
- Use the table and the weakest-link note in your letter.
