What it does
Code is ordered for the machine. A newcomer needs another order, with the big picture first and the reason beside every piece. Comments that repeat each line do not help. This prompt rewrites your working code as a guide for people. It never changes the code. It names each piece, explains what happens on bad input, and marks every claim that it works as proved, tested or not checked.
You give it
- The code, in full
- Who will read it (optional)
- What it is for and what you doubt (optional)
You get
- The ideas in reading order
- A short passage per idea with the code beside it
- What happens on bad input
- A list of what is proved, tested or unchecked
Use it when
- A new teammate has to take over your script.
- You wrote something with an AI and want to understand it before you trust it.
- You need handover notes for a formula set or automation.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt, then paste it into your AI chat (Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini).
- Under it, paste your details, one item for each line in What you need.
- Send it and read the reply against the checks at the end of the prompt.
- Answer anything marked MISSING and send it again, or ask for one part to be redone.
