Hire an AI fund fee and credit reviewer

Share the fee rules, dates, fee bases, eligible receipts and unused credits. You get a fee bridge and invoice questions.

What you give

  • The offset credit brought forward from last period (from the last invoice or review)
  • The invoice you want checked (optional)
  • Your last accepted review and the record it left (optional on a first run)

What you get

  • The management fee for the invoice period, with the fee on each side of the stepdown date shown side by side
  • A list of what changed since the last review, and the source of each change
  • A capital call check, only when a call notice is supplied

An example

The investment period just ended and you need to check the first invoice at the new rate and fee base.

You ask: “Share the fee rules, dates, fee bases, eligible receipts and unused credits. Use the material I attach and ask for anything essential that is missing.”

You get back:

  • Changed since last review. Each clause, base, fee receipt or credit that is new or different, with its source and date.
  • Fee for the invoice period. The fee before and after the stepdown, side by side. It marks which applies and splits the period on the date if needed.
  • Offset schedule. Opening credit, new eligible fees, the offset share, credit used, closing credit and the net fee due.

An example, not your task.

Details

Everything it can hand back

Your task sets the actual outputs. The specialist picks the methods that cover them.

  • The management fee for the invoice period, with the fee on each side of the stepdown date shown side by side
  • An offset schedule: opening credit, new eligible fees, credit used, closing credit and net fee due
  • A list of what changed since the last review, and the source of each change
  • A capital call check, only when a call notice is supplied
  • Questions for your reviewer on anything missing, plus MISSING lines, checks that could not run and a record for next time

How it does the job well

  • Reconcile to source documents, such as bank statements, ledgers and invoices, before reporting.
  • Show the calculation, inputs and period for every figure.
  • Label actuals, estimates and forecasts clearly.
  • Send tax, legal and regulatory questions to a qualified professional.

Mistakes it avoids

  • Mixing cash and accrual figures, or different periods, in one comparison.
  • Rounding or formula errors that do not tie back to totals.
  • Giving personal investment advice.

What a good result looks like

An example, not your task: The investment period just ended and you need to check the first invoice at the new rate and fee base.

  • Capital call check. The callable commitment before and after, only if a call notice was supplied. Otherwise one line saying it was skipped and why.
  • Reviewer questions. One question for each missing clause, date or receipt.
  • Record for next review. The fund and period, clause versions, fee chosen, eligible receipts counted, credit carried forward and invoice status.

How the work is checked

  • The invoice uses the fee for one period. Fees for two comparison periods are never added together.
  • An accepted baseline is never overwritten by an unapproved scenario. The branch that ran or was skipped is recorded.
  • A calculated invoice is not treated as a capital call or a contribution.
  • Each material input traces to its source, date, currency, scale, sign and reporting period. Unresolved MISSING lines stay.
  • States which checks passed, failed or could not run, and names missing inputs.

These checks have not been run against a model yet. Your AI uses them to check its own work.

A second opinion

Before it hands back, your AI reviews the draft the way Warren Buffett would. This is a way of reviewing the work. It does not mean they wrote or endorse it.

Capabilities

  • Compares with the last review. Reads the saved record if it belongs to this fund, or sets a first baseline. Compares the clause versions, the dates and the fee receipts with the record. If nothing changed and no review is due, it says so and stops.
  • Prices both sides of the stepdown. Works out the fee on the old base and rate, and on the new base and rate, for the same part of the year. Waivers are kept on their own line.
  • Picks the fee for the invoice period. Only the fee that applies to the invoice period moves forward. The other is a comparison. If the stepdown date falls inside the period, it splits the period on that date and prices each part on its own base.
  • Applies the offset. Matches each received fee to the kinds the agreement lets count, applies the offset share and adds the opening credit. Credit is used only up to the gross fee. Unused credit carries forward only if the agreement says so.
  • Checks any capital call. Only when an approved call notice is supplied, it runs the Unfunded commitment checker on the callable commitment. A fee invoice is not a call. With no notice, it skips this step and says why.
  • Saves the record. Writes the short record for next time and lists what is still MISSING. It keeps the old record.

Inputs and helpful context

The specialist starts from the task brief. Only active methods require their inputs.

For the primary method, when used

  • The fee clauses from the fund agreement (the LPA): rates, what each rate applies to, the stepdown date, the offset share and whether unused credit carries forward
  • The fee base before the stepdown, such as commitments, and after it, such as invested cost, for the invoice period (from the fund administrator's statements)
  • The fees the manager received from portfolio companies in the period, with the type of each (from the manager's fee ledger)
  • The offset credit brought forward from last period (from the last invoice or review)
  • The invoice period dates, and the currency and scale you report in, such as thousands of dollars
  • The invoice you want checked (optional)
  • A capital call notice and the commitment ledger (optional, only if the fee is paid through a capital call)
  • Your last accepted review and the record it left (optional on a first run)

Helpful context (optional)

  • The signed fund agreement and any side letters, not a summary of them.
  • The manager's fee ledger with the type of each fee.
  • A named reviewer who knows the fund and will answer the questions it raises.

Tools and access

  • A spreadsheet engine and file-capable AI: Builds a workbook with inputs and formulas you can click into, and can save the record file. In plain chat it returns the same tables as text.
  • The fund administrator's statements: Hold the fee base and the fee receipts with dates, so each input has a source.
  • A chat AI that reads long documents and builds spreadsheets: Fee clauses can be long and exact. In a plain chat, paste the fee and offset clauses and the schedules come back as tables.
  • Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini: Any of them can do these sums in a chat and show each step.
  • An AI that can make spreadsheet files: It can build the workbook, recalculate it and check that it reopens.
  • Node.js 20 or later (optional): Runs the small script that comes with the skill, for a second check of the numbers.

Functions and deliverables

  • Fund fee and credit reviewer: Recheck changed fund fees, eligible credits and invoices. Keep fee proposals separate from actual capital calls.
    • Questions for your reviewer on anything missing, plus MISSING lines, checks that could not run and a record for next time
  • Private fund fee and offset checker: Share fund fee terms, dates, eligible receipts and prior credits. Get the applicable gross fee, offset use, net invoice and remaining credit.
    • The fee for each comparable period, from the exact base and rate
    • The charge for the invoice period, with partial periods split
    • Offsets applied, in the offset ledger's currency scale
    • The net invoice and the credit left over
    • Open questions where the agreement is unclear, and checks that did not run
  • Remaining fund commitment checker: Share fund commitments, calls and eligible returned capital. Check how much the fund can still call.
    • The remaining callable commitment
    • Restored commitment shown on its own line
    • A list of distributions that are not proven to be recallable
    • A flag if the result is negative, as an overcall to review
    • A list of missing facts and checks that could not run
    • A small workbook with the same sums, if your AI can make files
  • Fund management fee offset checker: Share fund fee terms and received transaction fees. Check credits used, net fees due and credit carried forward.
    • The offset used, the net management fee due and the ending carryforward.
    • An editable workbook of the management fee offset, with its inputs, formulas and test cases to rerun.
    • A tie-out of gross fee, offset used and net fee, the inputs still missing and the checks that ran.
  • me.md builder: Answer a few questions, or let your AI use what it remembers. Get one private file that tells any AI who you are.
    • One me.md file with up to ten dated sections
    • A list of facts taken from memory, for you to check
    • A short note of what it removed for privacy
    • The two next steps, to save it and set it up
  • Warren Buffett: Review a business using Warren Buffett’s recorded principles. Check how it earns, what protects it, how managers use cash and which facts remain uncertain.
    • Your problem worked on the way Warren Buffett would: their questions, their method, their push-back
    • The answer or the work, in Warren Buffett's voice, using their ideas by name
    • Anything that goes beyond their public record, marked
    • One suggested next step

Tasks you can use it for

  • The investment period just ended and you need to check the first invoice at the new rate and fee base.
  • The manager received a monitoring or deal fee from a company the fund owns, and you want to know how much should reduce the fee.
  • Last quarter left an unused fee credit, and you need to know if it carries forward and by how much.
  • A side letter or amendment changed the fee rate or the offset share, and your fee schedule is out of date.

Limits to check before starting

  • You only want to compare one quarter's fee before and after a rate change. Use the Fund management fee change checker.
  • You only need the offset and carryforward sums for one period. Use the Fund management fee offset checker.
  • Your question is about unfunded commitments or one investor's capital call. Use the Fund commitments and capital call reviewer.
  • You want to check an investor's capital account or NAV. Use the Investor statement NAV checker.
  • You want to know what the fund agreement means in law. It works from the clauses you paste and gives no legal advice.

Best way to use this role

Give it one clear outcome, the actual files and a definition of done. Keep the work in one AI project so it can reuse checked context and earlier files.

  • Download the pack and give it to an AI that can read files, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini. For a workbook, pick one that can create spreadsheets. In plain chat it returns the same tables as text.
  • Say whether this is the first run. If not, paste the record from last time and attach last period's review. Then attach the fee clauses, the fee ledger and the administrator's statements.
  • Read "changed since last review" first. Check each changed rate, date or fee against the clause or statement it came from.
  • Check the fee for the invoice period by hand: base times annual rate times the part of the year. If the stepdown date falls inside the period, check that the period was split on that date.
  • Check the credit: opening credit plus new eligible fees times the offset share, less the credit used, equals the closing credit. Then check that net fee due is the gross fee less the credit used.
  • Answer the questions or leave them marked MISSING. Nothing is sent, invoiced or paid.
