Hire an AI fund stake cash commitment checker

Check a fund-stake purchase price and unpaid commitments. Keep today's payment separate from the cash you may need later.

What you give

  • The transfer package, with the consent and assumption terms (from the seller or the fund)
  • The fund's NAV on the reference date (from the fund statement)
  • The signed price quote

What you get

  • The unfunded commitment that transfers to the buyer
  • The adjusted purchase payment due now
  • Consent and assumption points for your lawyer
  • A list of missing facts and checks that could not run

An example

You are offered a stake in a private fund from another investor.

You ask: “Check a fund-stake purchase price and unpaid commitments. Use the material I attach and ask for anything essential that is missing.”

You get back:

  • outputs/step-1-unfunded-commitment-checker.md. The unfunded commitment that transfers, with consent and assumption points.
  • outputs/step-2-secondary-nav-price-checker.md. The adjusted purchase payment and the separate budget for future calls.
  • HAND-BACK SUMMARY. Files saved, sources used, assumptions, MISSING lines, checks missed and one suggested next step.

An example, not your task.

Details

Everything it can hand back

Your task sets the actual outputs. The specialist picks the methods that cover them.

  • The unfunded commitment that transfers to the buyer
  • The adjusted purchase payment due now
  • A separate budget for future capital calls
  • Consent and assumption points for your lawyer
  • A list of missing facts and checks that could not run

How it does the job well

  • Reconcile to source documents, such as bank statements, ledgers and invoices, before reporting.
  • Show the calculation, inputs and period for every figure.
  • Label actuals, estimates and forecasts clearly.
  • Send tax, legal and regulatory questions to a qualified professional.

Mistakes it avoids

  • Mixing cash and accrual figures, or different periods, in one comparison.
  • Rounding or formula errors that do not tie back to totals.
  • Giving personal investment advice.

What a good result looks like

An example, not your task: You are offered a stake in a private fund from another investor.

  • outputs/step-1-unfunded-commitment-checker.md. The unfunded commitment that transfers, with consent and assumption points.
  • outputs/step-2-secondary-nav-price-checker.md. The adjusted purchase payment and the separate budget for future calls.
  • HAND-BACK SUMMARY. Files saved, sources used, assumptions, MISSING lines, checks missed and one suggested next step.

How the work is checked

  • A funding budget is not a fair value. No transfer, investor consent or purchase is executed.
  • Only distributions the agreement lets the fund call back restore commitment, and recall calls are kept out of original calls.
  • The unfunded amount in step 2 is the amount from step 1, at the same cutoff date.
  • Seller-kept distributions are not already counted in the reference NAV. If they are, say so and count them once.
  • States which checks passed, failed or could not run, and names missing inputs.

These checks have not been run against a model yet. Your AI uses them to check its own work.

A second opinion

Before it hands back, your AI reviews the draft the way Warren Buffett would. This is a way of reviewing the work. It does not mean they wrote or endorse it.

Capabilities

  • Unfunded commitment checker. Looks only at the interest being transferred. Works out the unfunded balance at the cutoff after calls, restored amounts and reductions. Flags consent and assumption terms. Hands step 2 the transferred unfunded amount.
  • Secondary NAV price checker. Takes the transferred balance from step 1 and the signed reference-NAV quote. Credits only the interim distributions the contract credits. Gives the adjusted price and the future-call budget as separate lines.

How the role works

  1. Checks your task, context and available tools.
  2. Picks the methods needed and prepares a work plan.
  3. Carries out supported tasks, with each method's limits and review gates.
  4. Checks the real deliverables and corrects supported faults.
  5. Hands back files, evidence and unresolved gaps.

Your specialist's working setup

Inputs and helpful context

The specialist starts from the task brief. Only active methods require their inputs.

For the primary method, when used

  • The transfer package, with the consent and assumption terms (from the seller or the fund)
  • The commitment ledger: amounts called, returned and recallable (from the fund administrator)
  • The fund's NAV on the reference date (from the fund statement)
  • The signed price quote
  • Distributions the seller kept between the reference date and closing, and what the contract credits

Helpful context (optional)

  • The fund's latest capital account statement.
  • The fund agreement's transfer and consent clauses.

Tools and access

  • A spreadsheet tool and an AI that reads files: The ledger and the price both need dated arithmetic. The AI should recalculate and reopen the saved file.
  • Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini: Any of them can do these sums in a chat and show each step.
  • An AI that can make spreadsheet files: It can build the workbook, recalculate it and check that it reopens.
  • Node.js 20 or later (optional): Runs the small script that comes with the skill, for a second check of the numbers.
  • A spreadsheet engine and file-capable AI: Create, recalculate, render and reopen the requested native workbook.
  • Node.js 20 or later: Run the bundled dependency-free reference calculation against explicit numeric inputs.

Functions and deliverables

  • Fund stake cash commitment checker: Check a fund-stake purchase price and unpaid commitments. Keep today's payment separate from the cash you may need later.
    • The unfunded commitment that transfers to the buyer
    • The adjusted purchase payment due now
    • A separate budget for future capital calls
    • Consent and assumption points for your lawyer
    • A list of missing facts and checks that could not run
  • Remaining fund commitment checker: Share fund commitments, calls and eligible returned capital. Check how much the fund can still call.
    • The remaining callable commitment
    • Restored commitment shown on its own line
    • A list of distributions that are not proven to be recallable
    • A flag if the result is negative, as an overcall to review
    • A list of missing facts and checks that could not run
    • A small workbook with the same sums, if your AI can make files
  • Secondhand fund stake price checker: Share a fund stake quote and interim payments. Check the closing price and separate future funding needs.
    • The quoted price, the adjusted closing payment and a separate future-call funding budget
    • An editable workbook with inputs, formulas and test cases to rerun
    • A tie-out of the price, the adjustment and the closing payment, the inputs still missing and the checks that ran
  • Fund capital call checker: Share the call budget, investor shares and remaining balance. Get the amount due, amount collectible and any gap.
    • The investor's share of the call
    • The amount that can actually be collected from them
    • Any shortfall, shown for fund counsel
    • An editable workbook and a list of missing inputs
    • The checks that did not run
  • me.md builder: Answer a few questions, or let your AI use what it remembers. Get one private file that tells any AI who you are.
    • One me.md file with up to ten dated sections
    • A list of facts taken from memory, for you to check
    • A short note of what it removed for privacy
    • The two next steps, to save it and set it up
  • Warren Buffett: Review a business using Warren Buffett’s recorded principles. Check how it earns, what protects it, how managers use cash and which facts remain uncertain.
    • Your problem worked on the way Warren Buffett would: their questions, their method, their push-back
    • The answer or the work, in Warren Buffett's voice, using their ideas by name
    • Anything that goes beyond their public record, marked
    • One suggested next step

Tasks you can use it for

  • You are offered a stake in a private fund from another investor.
  • A seller sends a price quote based on a reference NAV.
  • You need to know how much cash to keep for future calls.
  • A reviewer asks why the price and the unfunded commitment were added together.

Limits to check before starting

  • You run the fund and need to split a new capital call between investors: use the Private fund commitment and capital call checker workflow.
  • You only need the unfunded balance of your own commitment: use the Remaining fund commitment checker.
  • You want to know if the price is good: this checks the arithmetic and cash, not the value of the fund.
  • The transfer cutoff date or the signed price quote is missing, or the package does not authorise the transfer. The run stops there. Get them first, or use the Remaining fund commitment checker on its own.

Best way to use this role

Give it one clear outcome, the actual files and a definition of done. Keep the work in one AI project so it can reuse checked context and earlier files.

  • Download the workflow pack and add it to Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini, in a chat that accepts files.
  • Attach the transfer package, ledger, fund statement and quote. Say the cutoff date, currency and scale.
  • Ask your AI to follow the pack and save each step's file.
  • After step 1, match the unfunded balance with the fund administrator's figure for the cutoff date.
  • After step 2, check the price against the signed quote. Send the consent points to your lawyer. Finish every MISSING line first.
