Hire an AI fund commitments and capital call reviewer
Work out how much one investor can still be called after an amendment or distribution, and split the next capital call. Shortfalls stay open.
What you give
- The approved call budget and the list of investors excused from this deal
- The last review's record, pasted in or attached (optional on a first run)
- The reporting date, the currency and the scale, such as thousands or millions
What you get
- A list of what changed since the last review, each change with its source and date
- The investor's share of the approved call, and any shortfall left open for fund counsel
- A short record to start the next review from, with MISSING lines and any checks that could not run
An example
The fund signs an amendment that cuts or changes one investor's commitment.
You ask: “Work out how much one investor can still be called after an amendment or distribution, and split the next capital call. Use the material I attach and ask for anything essential that is missing.”
You get back:
- Changed since last review. Each amendment, call, notice or excuse, with its source and date.
- Recycling cap. Only if a distribution is called recyclable. Cap, amount used, amount left and whether the clause was seen.
- Roll-forward. Commitment less calls and cuts, plus restored amounts, less recall calls, ending at the callable balance.
An example, not your task.

Details
Everything it can hand back
Your task sets the actual outputs. The specialist picks the methods that cover them.
- A commitment roll-forward for the investor, from commitment to callable balance
- A list of what changed since the last review, each change with its source and date
- The investor's share of the approved call, and any shortfall left open for fund counsel
- A recycling cap check, only when a distribution is called recyclable
- A short record to start the next review from, with MISSING lines and any checks that could not run
How it does the job well
- Reconcile to source documents, such as bank statements, ledgers and invoices, before reporting.
- Show the calculation, inputs and period for every figure.
- Label actuals, estimates and forecasts clearly.
- Send tax, legal and regulatory questions to a qualified professional.
Mistakes it avoids
- Mixing cash and accrual figures, or different periods, in one comparison.
- Rounding or formula errors that do not tie back to totals.
- Giving personal investment advice.
What a good result looks like
An example, not your task: The fund signs an amendment that cuts or changes one investor's commitment.
- Call split. The call budget split by eligible commitment, against the callable balance, with any shortfall listed for fund counsel.
- Kept apart. Fund value, commitment, recallable capital and the call split as four separate lines.
- Record for next review. A short record to paste into your next run.
How the work is checked
- NAV, commitment, recallable capital and call allocation remain distinct; no notice is issued or money requested. Never overwrite an accepted baseline with an unapproved scenario; record which branch ran or was skipped.
- Trace each material input to its source, date, currency, scale, sign and reporting period. Retain unresolved MISSING: lines.
- Reconcile the opening callable balance to the closing one: opening, plus restoration, less reductions and calls, equals closing, and each line ties to a dated document. Recall calls appear once.
- Keep hardcoded inputs separate from live formulas. Inspect changed inputs, actual recalculation, exported formulas and saved-file reopening.
- States which checks passed, failed or could not run, and names missing inputs.
These checks have not been run against a model yet. Your AI uses them to check its own work.
A second opinion
Before it hands back, your AI reviews the draft the way Warren Buffett would. This is a way of reviewing the work. It does not mean they wrote or endorse it.
Capabilities
- Compares with the last review. Reads the saved record if it belongs to this fund and investor, or sets a first baseline. Compares document versions, dates, currency and definitions. If nothing changed and no review is due, it says so and stops.
- Checks recycling room first. Runs only when a distribution is called recyclable. Works out the cap, what has been used and what is left. Cash that fits under the cap is still not callable room until a separate recallability clause and the real notice support it.
- Rebuilds the callable balance. Starts from the signed commitment. Takes off original calls and approved cuts. Adds only the restoration the contract allows. Takes off recall calls. Recall calls are never counted twice.
- Splits the call. Divides the approved call budget by the investor's eligible commitment over the current eligible total, after excused and defaulting investors. It compares the result with the callable balance.
- Shows a shortfall, never moves it. If the split is bigger than the callable balance, the gap is listed for fund counsel. It is not shared out to other investors.
- Keeps four numbers apart. NAV, commitment, recallable capital and the call split stay as separate lines. An unapproved scenario never overwrites an accepted baseline. The review records which branch ran or was skipped.
- Saves the record. Writes the small record for next time, keeps the old one, and lists what is still MISSING. After a failed check it corrects only the affected sum, at most twice, then reports the blocker.

Inputs and helpful context
The specialist starts from the task brief. Only active methods require their inputs.
For the primary method, when used
- The limited partnership agreement (LPA) and any side letters, with dates (from your fund administrator or data room)
- The signed commitment register, or the signed amendments that changed a commitment
- The original capital calls (not recall calls) and any recall calls, with dates and amounts
- Distribution notices that mark part of the cash as recallable, and the clause that allows it
- The approved call budget and the list of investors excused from this deal
- The current eligible total of commitments for this call, which is the number the split divides by
- The recycling cap terms and the amount used so far (only if a distribution is called recyclable)
- The last review's record, pasted in or attached (optional on a first run)
- The reporting date, the currency and the scale, such as thousands or millions
Helpful context (optional)
- The recallability clause, copied from the signed LPA, and the distribution notice that uses it.
- The signed amendment itself, not an email about it.
- A named reviewer, such as fund counsel or the administrator, who will check the clauses and the shortfall.
Tools and access
- A spreadsheet engine and file-capable AI: Builds a workbook with inputs and formulas you can click into, and can save the record file for next time. In plain chat it returns the same tables as text.
- Your fund administrator's investor register: Gives signed, dated commitments and call history, so the opening balance is a fact and not an estimate.
- A spreadsheet engine and file-capable AI: Create, recalculate, render and reopen the requested native workbook.
- Node.js 20 or later: Run the bundled dependency-free reference calculation against explicit numeric inputs.
- A spreadsheet engine and file-capable AI: Builds a roll-forward you can click into and recalculates it. In plain chat you get the same tables as text.

- Anything that goes beyond their public record, marked
- One suggested next step
Tasks you can use it for
- The fund signs an amendment that cuts or changes one investor's commitment.
- A distribution notice says part of the cash is "recallable" and you need to know if it gives callable room back.
- An investor is excused from a deal, so every other investor's share of the call moves.
- The approved call budget changed and you must re-split it before the notice goes out.
Limits to check before starting
- You only want to check an investor's capital account or NAV. Use the Investor statement NAV checker.
- Your question is about management fees, a stepdown or fee credits. Use the Fund fee and credit reviewer.
- You want a one-off answer with no earlier review to compare against. The Private fund commitment and capital call checker workflow is the simpler run.
- You want it to send a call notice or ask investors for money. It never does. Your fund administrator does that.
Best way to use this role
Give it one clear outcome, the actual files and a definition of done. Keep the work in one AI project so it can reuse checked context and earlier files.
- Add the agent to Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini, or paste the SKILL.md into a new chat. An AI that can read files works best. In plain chat it still works, but it cannot save files, so you keep the record it hands back.
- Say whether this is the first run. If not, paste the record from the last review.
- Attach or paste the changed documents (amendments, notices, call records, the call budget) with their dates.
- Read "changed since last review" first. Check each change against its document.
- Check the roll-forward by hand. It is commitment, less original calls and approved cuts, plus restored amounts, less recall calls.
- Read the shortfall and MISSING lines last. Take any shortfall to your fund counsel. Do not move it to other investors yourself.
- Run it again when a notice, an amendment or an excuse changes. Installing it sets up no schedule.
