Hire an AI outbound sales planner

Give it what you sell, its price range and the problem it solves. Your website or sales deck has this. You get a target profile with company filters, the event that makes a company ready to buy and who to rule out.

What you give

  • What you sell, its price range and the problem it solves. Your website or sales deck has this
  • Who buys it, as job titles, company size and industry. Your 3 to 5 best customers help most
  • Channels you can use and limits, such as email only or no cold calls

What you get

  • Buying signals ranked from strongest to weakest, with where to spot each and how fast to act
  • Your accounts sorted into 3 tiers, each with how much research and how many contacts
  • A sequence of 8 to 10 touches with the day, the channel and a new angle for each
  • A short list of numbers to track and the first test to run

An example

You are starting outbound sales and have no target list, no tiers and no sequence yet.

You ask: “Give it what you sell, its price range and the problem it solves. Use the material I attach and ask for anything essential that is missing.”

You get back:

  • Target profile. Company filters, the event that makes a company ready to buy, who feels the pain and who to rule out.
  • Signals to watch. Buying signals ranked by strength, with where to spot each and how fast to act.
  • Account tiers. Three groups of accounts, each with a research depth and a number of contacts.

An example, not your task.

Skills and workflows for this job: Sell and negotiate

Details

Everything it can hand back

Your task sets the actual outputs. The specialist picks the methods that cover them.

  • A target profile with company filters, the event that makes a company ready to buy and who to rule out
  • Buying signals ranked from strongest to weakest, with where to spot each and how fast to act
  • Your accounts sorted into 3 tiers, each with how much research and how many contacts
  • A sequence of 8 to 10 touches with the day, the channel and a new angle for each
  • A draft first email, a LinkedIn note and a closing email, with placeholders for facts you did not give
  • A short list of numbers to track and the first test to run

How it does the job well

  • Never invent a customer, case study, metric, signal or fact about a company. In drafts, write any fact the user did not give as <placeholder>.
  • Do not say you researched a company unless web access ran and you can cite what you found. Without web access, list the research to do and the signals to look for.
  • Every message needs a reason to contact this person now. If there is none, write "no signal yet" and put the account on a watch list. Do not write a generic message to fill the gap.
  • Research the buyer and their company before writing. One specific, true detail beats ten generic lines.
  • Lead with the buyer's problem and outcome, not your features.
  • Give every message one clear, low-effort next step.
  • Qualify honestly. Record budget, authority, need and timing as known, unknown or assumed.

Mistakes it avoids

  • Volume plans that spray one template at a long list.
  • Touches that only say "just checking in".
  • Changing the subject, opening and ask in the same test.
  • Quoting the profile's reply-rate benchmarks as what the user should expect.
  • Making claims about results, prices or terms that are not approved.
  • Long first messages that ask for too much.

What a good result looks like

An example, not your task: You are starting outbound sales and have no target list, no tiers and no sequence yet.

  • Channel plan. The first, second and third channel to use for each job level.
  • Sequence. Eight to ten touches over three to four weeks, each with its own angle.
  • Message drafts. A first email, a LinkedIn note and a closing email, with placeholders for missing facts.

How the work is checked

  • Personal details are verifiable and correct.
  • Each deal update cites the call, email or note behind it.
  • Follow-ups have dates and owners.
  • States which checks passed, failed or could not run, and names missing inputs.

These checks have not been run against a model yet. Your AI uses them to check its own work.

A second opinion

Before it hands back, your AI reviews the draft the way Peter Thiel and Matthew Dixon would. This is a way of reviewing the work. It does not mean they wrote or endorse it.

Capabilities

  • Pin the offer and buyer. It restates what you sell and who buys. It asks once for anything missing, then marks it MISSING.
  • Sharpen the target profile. It writes filters, the event that makes a company a buyer now and a list of who to rule out.
  • Rank the signals. It sorts signals into active buying, company change and tech or behavior hints, and says how fast to act on each.
  • Tier the accounts. It splits accounts into deep, medium and light personalization, with how many contacts to reach at each.
  • Match channel to job level. It picks a first, second and third channel for each level, and drops any channel you cannot use.
  • Build the sequence. It lays out 8 to 10 touches over 3 to 4 weeks. Each touch has a new angle and the last is a short, honest closing email.
  • Draft and check. It writes sample messages with placeholders, flags claims you cannot back and names the first test to run.

How the role works

  1. Checks your task, context and available tools.
  2. Picks the methods needed and prepares a work plan.
  3. Carries out supported tasks, with each method's limits and review gates.
  4. Checks the real deliverables and corrects supported faults.
  5. Hands back files, evidence and unresolved gaps.

Inputs and helpful context

The specialist starts from the task brief. Only active methods require their inputs.

For the primary method, when used

  • What you sell, its price range and the problem it solves. Your website or sales deck has this.
  • Who buys it, as job titles, company size and industry. Your 3 to 5 best customers help most.
  • Channels you can use and limits, such as email only or no cold calls.
  • A list of companies you want to reach (optional)
  • Signals you can already see, such as new hires, funding news or pricing page visits (optional)

Helpful context (optional)

  • A spreadsheet of your last 20 won and lost deals. It shows which signals really came before a sale.
  • Past outreach emails with the replies they got, so the new plan builds on what worked.
  • Real case studies you can quote. Without them the drafts leave proof out rather than make it up.

Tools and access

  • Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini: Any of them can plan from pasted text. Pick one with web search if you want help researching accounts.

Tasks you can use it for

  • You are starting outbound sales and have no target list, no tiers and no sequence yet.
  • Your cold emails get no replies and you think the problem is the reason for the message, not the wording.
  • Someone new starts doing outreach for you next month and needs a plan to follow.
  • You have a few big accounts you want to win and need a way to reach several people at each one.

Limits to check before starting

  • You want an email for one named company. Use the Account-based outreach drafter.
  • You already know your buyer and only want cold emails and follow-ups. Use the Cold email writer.
  • You need to answer replies, handle objections and move deals forward. Use the Sales outreach writer.
  • You want to plan your offer and lead channels first. Use the Sales offer and lead planner.
  • You need a live list of companies or live buying signals. This agent cannot pull data. Get the list from your CRM or a data tool, then paste it in.

Best way to use this role

Give it one clear outcome, the actual files and a definition of done. Keep the work in one AI project so it can reuse checked context and earlier files.

  • Download the pack from this page and add it to your AI as a skill. If you cannot, paste SKILL.md into a new chat, then paste references/source-agent.md.
  • Write five or six lines: what you sell, who buys, your best customers and the channels you can use. Paste any account list or signals you have. No code or web access is needed.
  • Type "Build my outbound plan. Do not invent any customer, signal or number I did not give you."
  • Read the target profile and the signal list first. Cut anything that does not match your real buyers, then ask for the plan again.
  • Check each draft message for a claim you cannot prove. Fill every placeholder in angle brackets with a real fact.
  • Send nothing until you approve it. Run the first test it suggests and change one thing at a time.
