What it does
Claude Code can change Shopify theme files, not just single sections. That is powerful, and it is also how a live store gets broken. Most trouble comes from giving one giant instruction, building on a theme that is live, or building before the real products are in the store. This skill plans the session. You collect the right files first. Then you duplicate the live theme and tell Claude Code to work only on the copy. The kickoff prompt asks Claude Code to read your theme and screenshots and ask you questions before it builds. You build one section at a time, review each, then push the result as an unpublished theme. It plans the session. It does not write theme code.
You give it
- Your store domain and current theme name
- The products already in the store
- Logos, product photos and lifestyle photos
- Screenshots of sections you like, and a few words about your brand style (optional)
- Reference ads (optional)
- Store capture (optional)
You get
- An asset folder checklist
- A kickoff prompt for Claude Code
- An ordered section plan with a review checkpoint after each
- A final polish prompt, publish steps and a log of which copy was edited
Use it when
- You want to build or restyle a Shopify store with Claude Code and are comfortable approving commands in a terminal.
- You have tried one big prompt and the result was a mess.
- You want a safe way to try a new design without touching your live store.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Add your real products to the store first. Then paste your domain, theme name and style words.
- Make the inspiration folder as the checklist says, with screenshots, logos and photos.
- Follow the plan in order. Sign in to Shopify yourself when the command asks for a code.
- Review each section before asking for the next, and publish only after a phone check.
