What it does
The first logo idea is often the obvious one, and designers skip it to be original. But the brief usually holds a plain answer that most people know already, and a mark that builds on what people recognise starts ahead. Then comes the test: marks fail when they are shrunk to a thumbnail or blown up on a wall. This skill reads the brief for that plain answer, lists the obvious solutions and keeps the ones that work. It adds one surprising move on top of what people know. It plans the mark as a frame others can fill, simple enough to draw by hand, and tests it at the smallest and largest sizes. It writes a short soft strategy and starts with paper sketches.
