What it does
A short commit message built from your actual staged changes, so a reader knows what changed and why without opening the diff. It reads git status and the staged diff first. If nothing is staged it asks for a diff or a description and labels it as such, and it never stages files on its own. It picks one type: feat, fix, docs, refactor, test or chore. If your change mixes types, it asks you to split it. The subject is a verb-first phrase of 50 characters or fewer, and empty subjects like "update code" are banned. A body is added when the reason is not obvious.
You give it
- Staged changes in git
- A note on why you made the change (optional)
- Your team's commit style (optional)
You get
- A typed subject line
- A why-focused body
- A split suggestion if types are mixed
- A message ready to paste
Use it when
- You staged changes and cannot think of a good message.
- Your commits all say "fix bug" or "update code".
- A commit mixes a fix and a feature and should be split.
- You want your team's history to be easy to scan.
How to use it
- Add it to your AI once: download it and add the folder to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as a skill.
- Ask for the job in your own words. Your AI opens the skill when it fits.
- It works best when your AI can run git commands.
