What it does
Cost per reply looks neat and misleads. An ad can bring cheap replies from people who never buy, and a dear ad can bring fewer replies who all do. If you leave out samples, handling or follow-up, the cost looks lower than it is. This skill adds up ad space, samples, reply handling and follow-up. It counts customers, not replies, and works out the cost per customer by ad, headline and offer from keyed returns. It counts repeat buyers only as far as you can show them, works out how soon sales cover the cost, and finds the most you can pay for a customer. It keeps the ads that bring customers cheaply, not those that bring cheap replies.
You give it
- Costs: ad space or spend, samples, handling, follow-up
- Replies and orders for each ad, headline or offer
- Sale value and profit per order
- Repeat orders you can show (optional)
You get
- The full cost per customer by ad, headline and offer
- How soon sales cover the cost
- The most you can pay for a customer
- A data score out of 100 and which ads to keep
Use it when
- You judge ads by cost per click or reply.
- You give out samples or trials and do not count them as a cost.
- You are deciding which ads or offers to repeat.
