What it does
A brief that a photographer, illustrator or video team can act on, covering the story, the look, how to shoot it, the variants needed and the quality bar. It cuts back and forth and gets you the right images the first time. You give the brand and campaign goal. The skill builds the brief in five layers: story, look, execution, variants and standards. It adapts the workflow for three jobs: briefing an outside creative, directing in-house work, or judging work that already exists. It lists failure patterns, such as mood words with no reference, and includes a clear output format. You can use it for concepts, mood boards and shot lists.
