Design system auditor
Point it at your components. Get naming and hardcoded value problems, docs for variants, or a new pattern.
Design system auditor is a free AI skill for the job "Design things people love". Give the instructions to an AI assistant that supports the required files and tools, then review its output.

What it does
A check of how consistent your components are, in one of three modes. Audit finds naming problems and hardcoded values. Document writes up a component with its variants. Extend designs a new pattern that fits what you already have. It looks at the building blocks of your system: tokens such as colours, type scale, spacing, borders, shadows and motion, and components with their variants and states. In audit mode it flags places that skip tokens, duplicate each other or break naming rules. In document mode it writes usage notes and variants. In extend mode it proposes a new component using your existing tokens, so it feels native.
You give it
- Components, styles or Figma file
- Mode: audit, document or extend
- Component or pattern name (optional)
You get
- Audit list of inconsistencies
- Component documentation with variants
- Design for a new pattern
- Fixes for naming and tokens
Use it when
- Your buttons look different on every page.
- You need documentation for a component developers keep rebuilding.
- You want to find hardcoded colours that should be tokens.
- You need a new component and want it to match the system.
How to use it
- Add it to your AI once: download it and add the folder to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as a skill.
- Ask for the job in your own words. Your AI opens the skill when it fits.
- It works best when your AI can open Figma or code files.
Workflows that use it
- Give developers a complete component brief
- Prepare a design system migration
- Monthly design consistency review
