What it does
A written discount policy your sales team can follow: who can offer what, when to ask for approval, and what happens when a request breaks the rules. It ends the habit of citing "last quarter's deal" as precedent. The skill builds a matrix of maximum discounts across contract size, term length, payment terms and strategic value. A router then sends out-of-matrix requests through a named chain of approvers with the right evidence attached. A linter checks the policy for flaws: approvers ranked backwards, overlapping bands, margin floor breaches and gaps. It starts from your past four quarters of won and lost deals. It uses Python scripts, so it needs a place to run code.
You give it
- Closed won and lost deals from the last year
- Your margin floor
- Your sales team structure and approvers
- Contract sizes, terms and payment options
- Your business type, such as SaaS or enterprise software
You get
- A discount matrix by deal type
- An exception approval flow
- A lint report listing policy flaws
- A short policy summary for your team
Use it when
- You are writing the company's first formal discount rules.
- Margins are slipping and reps discount too freely.
- Exceptions keep rising and you suspect the bands are wrong.
- Your finance lead raised the margin floor and the policy must be rebuilt.
