What it does
A teaching sequence that moves students from watching worked examples to solving problems alone, one step at a time, so they stop freezing when the help disappears. It is built on the expertise reversal effect: help that supports beginners starts to slow down students who have learned the method. The plan removes one step from each example at a time, and only moves on when students get the current step right. It adds checkpoints to see if support still helps, then designs the solo practice, including problem difficulty and what to do when a student gets stuck. It also warns about students who feel more confident than they are.
