What it does
A cluttered folder sorted into a clear structure, with duplicate files found, and nothing moved until you have seen the plan. Downloads stops being a pile. The skill scans the folder and notes each file's name, type, size and dates. It assigns a destination by type, by date such as year and month, or by your own rules in a YAML file. It compares file contents to find duplicates and keeps the newest copy. You can rename files to a style like kebab-case, and move files untouched for a year into an archive. Its first run is a dry run: a full list of what goes where, so you approve it before any move.
You give it
- The folder path
- How to sort: by type, date or project
- Naming style (optional)
- Your own rules file (optional)
You get
- A move plan to approve
- Sorted folders
- A duplicate list
- Renamed files
- An archive of stale files
Use it when
- Your Downloads folder has thousands of files.
- You need photos or exports sorted into year and month folders.
- You suspect you have the same file saved five times.
- You want old files out of the way but not deleted.
How to use it
- Add it to your AI once: download it and add the folder to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as a skill.
- Ask for the job in your own words. Your AI opens the skill when it fits.
- It works best when your AI can run code and read your files.
