What it does
Many purchases are called investments because the person hopes the price will rise. Hope is not a test. A careful buyer asks what they own, what it is worth apart from the price, and how much room they leave for being wrong. Without that, the purchase is speculation, which is not banned but should be called by its name. This skill applies one test: after careful study, does the purchase promise safety of principal and an adequate return? If not, it labels it speculation. It describes what you own in the thing, builds a rough value from earnings, dividends, assets and prospects, and shows how unsure that value is. It treats the price as an offer, checks your margin for error and asks what kind of buyer you are. It never says buy or sell. This is not financial advice.
