What it does
MATLAB code that pulls financial and economic data from Bloomberg, FRED, Haver Analytics or LSEG Datastream, using the right interface for each. It saves you from guessing which connection method fits. Name the provider and the series you need. For Bloomberg it chooses among four interfaces and covers prices, history, live data and reference data. For FRED it fetches economic series from the St. Louis Fed. For Haver and Datastream it pulls history, and Datastream is history only, with no live stream. It works only inside MATLAB with the Datafeed Toolbox, plus your own access to each provider, which may be paid. Other sources like Yahoo Finance and Excel add-ins are out of scope.
You give it
- The provider
- The securities or series IDs
- The date range
- Your access details set up in MATLAB
You get
- MATLAB connection code
- The right interface for your case
- Example data pull code
- Notes on provider limits
Use it when
- You need Bloomberg prices in MATLAB and are unsure which interface to use.
- You want a FRED economic series pulled into a table.
- You use Haver or Datastream and need historical data.
- You are writing code that depends on a data provider.
How to use it
- Add it to your AI once: download it and add the folder to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as a skill.
- Ask for the job in your own words. Your AI opens the skill when it fits.
- It works best when your AI can run MATLAB with a data provider account.
