OPC UA client connector
Name an industrial server. Get MATLAB connected securely and its nodes browsed.
OPC UA client connector is a free AI skill for the job "Build and ship software". Give the instructions to an AI assistant that supports the required files and tools, then review its output.

What it does
MATLAB code that finds an industrial OPC UA server, connects to it securely, and lets you browse what it offers. You name the server and get working steps instead of trial and error with certificates. It starts with discovery through the local discovery service and reads the server's endpoints and security policies. It then connects as a client, with a username and password or with certificates, and sets the security mode. It handles the common stumbling blocks, such as untrusted certificates and host name mismatches, and inspects certificate files. Once connected, it walks the node tree, finds nodes by name or ID, calls methods, and processes large namespaces in batches.
You give it
- The server name or address
- Login or certificate details
- The security mode required (optional)
- The node or data you want
You get
- MATLAB code to discover and connect
- Security and certificate setup
- Fixes for trust and host name errors
- Node browsing and lookup code
Use it when
- You need to read data from a factory machine into MATLAB.
- Your connection fails with a certificate trust error.
- Discovery returns an empty list and you do not know why.
- You want to find a node by name in a huge address space.
How to use it
- Add it to your AI once: download it and add the folder to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as a skill.
- Ask for the job in your own words. Your AI opens the skill when it fits.
- It works best when your AI can run MATLAB and reach an OPC UA server.
