Signal spectrum analyzer
Give it a signal. Get its frequency content, peaks and bandwidth worked out with the right method.
Signal spectrum analyzer is a free AI skill for the job "Build and ship software". Give the instructions to an AI assistant that supports the required files and tools, then review its output.

What it does
The frequency content of your signal, with peaks, band power and bandwidth worked out using a method that fits your data. It avoids the usual FFT traps that give misleading plots. It asks whether data is saved or streaming in live. For saved data it runs quick diagnostics, checks for gaps and trend, and picks the output type: power spectral density, power spectrum or amplitude spectrum. Then it chooses the estimator, such as Welch, periodogram or a parametric method, computes with a stated sample rate, and plots with labelled axes. It pulls out peaks, band power and bandwidth with built-in functions. It needs MATLAB with the Signal Processing Toolbox.
You give it
- Your signal data
- Sample rate
- The measurement you want, such as peaks or band power
- MATLAB with Signal Processing Toolbox
You get
- A spectrum computed with a suitable estimator
- A labelled plot
- Peak frequencies
- Band power and bandwidth figures
Use it when
- You need to find the dominant frequencies in a recording.
- You want to compare two signals with coherence or cross-spectrum.
- Your FFT plot looks noisy and you are unsure why.
- You need the bandwidth or power in a specific band.
How to use it
- Add it to your AI once: download it and add the folder to Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as a skill.
- Ask for the job in your own words. Your AI opens the skill when it fits.
- It works best when your AI can run MATLAB with Signal Processing Toolbox.
