What it does
A number you can defend when someone asks how big a change could be. You get a low, base and high estimate, never a single figure, plus a list of every assumption behind it. First the skill sorts your idea into one of four types: more revenue, lower cost, less risk or saved time. Each type uses its own formula. It then collects your baseline, how many people or orders are affected, the expected lift, the time frame and how sure you are. It builds the point estimate, adds the range, and writes the result in plain words so a boss or client can act on it or rank it against other ideas.
You give it
- Your current baseline number
- The change you expect
- Who or what is affected
- Time frame
- How confident you are (optional)
You get

- The formula used
- A plain summary for decision makers

- You have ten ideas and need to rank them by likely payoff.
- Your manager asks for the return on a change before approving it.
- You need a rough size for a new market, offer or price change.
