What it does
Shopify Markets lets one store sell to many countries. The settings interact. Local currency at checkout needs Shopify Payments, which needs a registered business and is not offered in every country. Without it, a currency app shows local prices on the store but checkout charges in the store currency. Group the wrong countries and shoppers see surprise tax or the wrong shipping. This skill takes your country list and gateway and works out how to group markets, which currency to use as the base, how to round converted prices, which products and prices change per market, which languages to add, and how to set tax. It does not give tax advice. Cross-border tax and duties need a qualified person, and plan and country availability change, so check them first.
You give it
- The countries you want to sell to
- Where your business is registered
- Your payment gateway
- Your warehouses by country and your Shopify plan (optional)
- Spreadsheet (optional)
You get
- Market groups, with the reason for each group
- A currency and rounding choice
- Price and catalog changes per market
- Language and tax settings, with a list of questions for an adviser
Use it when
- You want to sell to shoppers outside your home country on one Shopify store.
- You turned on a market and prices or checkout look wrong.
- You are not sure whether you need Shopify Payments to show local currency.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- Paste your countries, where you are registered, your gateway and your warehouses.
- Say your Shopify plan, because theme changes per market need a plan above Basic.
- Check each group with Shopify's current country and plan list before you set it up.
- Take the tax questions to an accountant or tax adviser.
