What it does
Big images are one of the most common reasons a store feels slow, and a camera file uploaded straight from a phone can be several megabytes. Shoppers can't see the difference between a huge file and a right-sized one, but they feel it in the wait. This skill checks each image against clear limits: no wider than 2,000 pixels, a file weight that fits the job, the right format, and a shape that suits your grid. It also names the file, writes plain alt text, and decides the order of the gallery. It hands the compressing to an image compressor and the full alt text work to an alt text writer. It does not judge how good a picture looks or sells; for that, use a gallery checker. The limits are for web display, not print.
You give it
- A list or folder of image files with pixel size and file size
- Product name, the key detail of each shot, and where each image is used
- Your grid shape, square or 4:5
- Your store's Files list sorted by size (optional)
- Brand brain (optional)
You get
- A score out of 100 for the set, now and after the fixes, with the sum shown
- Per image: the resize, crop, format and compression action
- New file names and alt text for each
- The upload order for the gallery and what to assign to variants
Use it when
- You're about to upload a batch of product or banner images.
- Your store's Files list shows images over 1 MB.
- Product grids look uneven or load slowly on phones.
How to use it
- Start a chat with the skill. Open it if you added it to your AI, or copy it and paste it in.
- List each image with its pixel size and file size. Attach a few of the images so it can see them.
- Say where each one is used (product page, collection, banner) and your grid shape.
- Resize first, then crop by hand to the grid shape, then compress. Keep the original files.
- Upload each file once and reuse it, then check your Files list for anything over 1 MB.
